It's an understatement to say Donuts hasn't stepped up in Jones's absence. However Jones hasn't been missed. What has been glaring is the need for a backup C.

I was ready yesterday for a Jones for Henson trade.

He played really solid defense tonight. He's not yet confident enough to look for his shot on offense , which is ok. But his defense and passing are at above average level for a 7 footer although he really isnt a rim protector.

    Ask yourself this.

When the playoffs roll around, do you want DMo on your team getting meaningful minutes?

    I dont.

Only if he's guarding ZBO... Because that would be too funny. :p

He can't play defence without fouling. Aside from the occasional nice pass or post move, he is a liability everywhere else. He has a career average of 62% for FT's which is horrendous for someone who apparently has good touch and finesse.

Dude he had 2 tonight. He averaged 2.6 per game on 16 min a game. Thats 5 per 30 min. Pretty high, but remember that he had 5 fouls last night on BS calls so that is affecting his average. He has been pretty good at not fouling this season so far outside of that 1 game.

His occasional nice passes are products of him being extremely conscious in his efforts to facilitate ball movement. He never holds the ball for very long, if someone is moving then he is very good at finding them. Motiejunas also is a pretty solid rebounder at this time. He has times where his stone hands and lack of explosiveness hurts him, but overall his strength and positioning are usually pretty good.

So he can play defense without fouling and is good at some other stuff.

Why wait until the playoffs? He should be out of the rotation now.

You don't come across many 7 foot cheerleaders very often

The best we had was a Brian Cook at 6'10. So yeah Morey would

It's frustrating because he is skilled, but just not good enough for the NBA, he just can't keep up. Hopefully Morey finds a way to get a proper back-up for us this year.

He was responsible for that nice bounce pass to Harden that led to the Baynes poster.

I checked out the game. I thought it might be just another terrible game for him, but... he actually looked pretty good defensively. He didn't even look to score, nor the teammates tried to involve him, but that's ok since he's been in a pretty terrible slump. Also, rebounding was also pretty bad... Still, he's got a high IQ and if you actually watch the games you can notice that he understands very well how to defend against different offenses. If he could only have a tougher mindset and be more consistent... he'd be a solid role player.

Some of the comments here are painting Dmo as the worst player we have now, but in reality he is currently our second best big man, with TJones out. Think about that.

If you're still making excuses for this guy, you're blinded by the fact that you want to see him succeed rather than actual on court results. He is playing like you would expect a rookie to play. When we traded Marcus Morris and 2Pat I was all on board because I said D. Mo and TJ had the potential to be better OVERALL players. Maybe neither will ever be better shooters, but I felt they both had the tools to be more complete players in terms of defense, scoring and rebounding. I had high hopes too. Watching him fail over and over again is something I take no pleasure in. At the very least, he is thinning out our trade asset pool by being terrible. I always figured TJ or D. Mo would eventually be moved for a bigger piece and the team would be just fine with whichever player they were able to retain. Now I'm concerned that TJ is the only tradable asset out of the two and D. Mo will remain here by default and continue to be a borderline NBA level player instead of providing the quality depth that I envisioned.

Who would you say is a better passing big man on the Team? FYI I don't consider Kpap a big but if you do Kpap is a bit better passer than Dmo.
