That's annoying. I wanted to see how we'd look against the full-strength champs. I feel for the people who pay money to go to these games and not get the best product.
Well he always rests his players on the road, never at home. So I guess he respects the good people of San Antonio who pay good money, but other fanbases can suck it.
People will down play a Rockets win due to the missing players, but I don't care. Just get another win. Still could be a tough game, Spurs have made lots of games where their starters rest into real competitions or even wins. Rockets "should win", but still have to stay focused and execute.
BTW, there was a game late last season on the road at Golden State where the Spurs rested half their team(including I believe Duncan and Manu) and still came away with a win. So the Rockets better not expect them to just lay down.
Live in San Antonio, I wanted a full strength matchup. We really better win now and our guys don't take this game lightly. Otherwise the hater trash talk I already get goes up 10 fold. Go ROCKETS!!
This is such BS. If he wants to reduce minutes, fine, but unless it involves personal issues, health, or discipline, you play your ####ing stars. I hope the new Commish butt reams him over this.
Decided to look at the spurs Schedule cause resting his players while only playing 3 games seems odd and now it makes since..... They got a game on Sat then 2 back2backs coming up Mon-Tue and Fri-Sat.
Should have rested his guys against the Hawks yesterday and played them tonight. Would seem to make more sense unless his thinking is that they wanted to get the victory against an easier team in the Hawks and since they were going to lose to us anyways might as well rest tonight.
Yeah that's it.... Pop is just thinking that since they are going to lose to us anyways, might as well rest guys...
Pop is playing for the playoffs and title. Confident his team will make the post-season his only real opponents during the regular season grind are injuries and fatigue. Also, even though it might cost him a loss it helps season his bench to play a tough game against a quality opponent. With the adoption of advance analytics in basketball it has become more and more apparent how important it is to rest players. The wear and tear as the season progresses not only makes players more injury prone, but their productivity goes down. Especially when one or more of your players is a dinosaur.
OMG, the coach can play who he wants. Really, people- what's his alternative- play Duncan for the first minute and sit him the rest of the game. If I was Pop, and the league said I had to play those players or else get fined, I'd insert them at the beginning, call a timeout after the jump ball, and sit them. The league can't dictate how many minutes they give, can they? The only person who should be in control of who plays and who doesn't is the coach.
I'm fine with the benching. If the NBA has a problem with it maybe not have so many b2b games. Pop gonna Pop Should be an easy W for the Rockets but we can never sleep on the Spurs
