What difference does it make? Nothing gets done today anyway, it will be just like it is for another two years. Republicans won't have veto override majority, so they cannot pass anything either.

It matters for executive and judicial appointments, if nothing else. We may not have an attorney general for the next two years if one isn't confirmed in the lame duck session, for example.
Well there's a small chance that Obama would be as smart as Clinton and moderate his stance on issues to work with the opposition and get things done for the best interest of the country. Like Obama said "elections have consequences", we'll see if he changes his mind about that when he's not benefiting from it.
Have you missed Obama's first term? He moderated his stance on a large number of things. We can start with his many moderations on the Health Care Act. He moderated them massively in regards to debt ceiling limitations, budget proposals etc. He's moderated them or offered to moderate them time and time again.
By just about every definition, Obama is a moderate Democrat, yet he cannot get anything done for most of his terms. Republicans have basically changed the way how opposition should behave when they are not in power. So now Democrats should support Republican legislation when they are not in power? I am not even a Democrat but somehow I doubt that's how things works.
I too don't see much of a change. I anticipate that Obama will speak to a need to work with the new GOP controlled Senate and House. And I suspect he will make a few moves with a more conciliatory tone. But I don't expect any such effort on the GOP side... rather, I anticipate even more in-fighting between the two factions within the GOP. And I anticipate a more extremist set of positions as a result, as in the absence of any real efforts to get things done, the tea party will be floating all sorts of unrealistic and fractious bills (eliminate ACA, defund EPA, border security, increase oil drilling). So even less will be accomplished by Congress. I still worry if the GOP somehow succeeds at getting the presidency. Not only will there no checks and balances, but whatever SCOTUS justices will push the balance even further to the right.

Yes, he was such a moderate that he struggled to get enough votes to get things past a Democrat controlled congress time and time again....sure he moderated his stance a bit on occasion, enough to where he could lock down moderate Democrats when he needed them, but that's not working with the other party. He spent the first several years strong arming Republicans and you can be sure they'll repay those actions. Get used to hearing "elections have consequences".

Sure, when it comes to both the house and senate, but he still struggled to get Democrat votes even in those 6 weeks and that's my point. Any effort to paint this president as a moderate by American standards is pretty outlandish.
