Here's a fun, public poll for bragging rights and debate during the bye week.

Will Ryan Mallett start against the Browns?

Of course he will. I expect the decision to be announced middle of next week. Here are the reasons:

This is the first time O'Brien hasn't flat out said Fitzpatrick is our starter.

    Our offense is terrible.

Fitzpatrick, although he's had decent stats, has been terrible. His timing is atrocious. He's got no rhythm with our receivers. Andre is suffering because of it. Our whole offense is, in fact. It even makes the o line look bad. Someone with better timing, and quicker decision making will go a long way for the line.

Media has said once we were out of the playoff race, Mallet would get his chance.

    Mallet's ready, per twitter.

Its a contract year for him, we need to know what we've got.

O'Brien says we need a spark.

    It all adds up.

Ryan " The Lorax" Fitzpatrick is 10 pounds of monkey crap in a 5 pound bag. Gimme someone else, hell, lets get Schaub back at this rate.

If Mallet is not named Fitzpatrick...give him to me.

    My body is ready.

I think it will happen... i mean we traded for the guy and his contract is going to expire we have to at least give him a shot.

Im not exactly confident that he will be any good but I do think it will be nice to see a QB with a cannon

While not mathematically out of playoffs, there's at least 10 teams ahead of us in the AFC.

I've no expectations of Mallett but a decision must be made about extending him, even as a backup. I'd prefer they make that decision with as much evidence as they can collect.

Keep cycling through those QBs ;)...none are the answer.

    Schaub
    Keenum
    Yates
    Fitzpatrick
    Now Mallett
    Savage soon after
    On and on...

Put in Keenum! Put in Keenum! ... Went well for a week or two.
Put in Mallett! Put in Mallett!
Put in Savage! Put in Savage!

Schefter just said at halftime of MNF that the Texans are considering a QB change before week 10...

He should start, but whether he does or not is another matter.
He may get a shot in the second half if the game is getting away from Fitz.

If the Colts win tonight I think it's Mallet by the way the BOB sounds.

I voted yes because I want him to. OBrien may be too stubborn to do it, but he should do it. I think he is about to lose the team like Kubiak did last year. With a QB like Fitzpatrick I would be very discouraged as a player. You know that the margin for mistakes is very small because you can't score many points. With a true passing threat, the running game would open up. Other team's defenses don't think Fitz can really light them up so they load up the line of scrimmage to stop the run. Forget about serious comebacks or last minute drives. It's time to give Mallet some burn. If he flops, bring Fitzzle back in.

If the Colts lose the Texans are still only one game out of the division lead. If that's the case I think BOB will rather go with the veteran QB.

I think that ship has sailed. Fitzpatrick is no longer looked at as "the guy who gives the Texans their best chance to win". But, rather "the guy the Texans have to win in spite of".

    this ^^^^^^^^^^^

Texans have to see what they have in Savage. If it costs them games, so be it. It's not like they are going anywhere this season anyways.

    yea, we all know this.

but, the texans are going no where, and it makes no sense in starting Fitzpatrick when they already know he's an average back up qb.

the texans have to see what savage is all about. next years draft can be greatly affected by what savage shows these next few weeks.

Only thing that scares me is that Mallet or Savage will come in and play just good enough to make the Texans think he's "the guy" . I'm really only interested in which of these guys will be the backup to the QB we take in the first round
