"In the time of chimpanzees I was a monkey."

    Beck

Heard it on the radio today and got me thinking.

"No, this is not my guitar, I'm bringing it to a friend"- Alesund (by Sun Kil Moon)

The first lyrics start 1:30 into the song

The thing about Under My Thumb is it was not only an opening line to a song, the Stones opened concerts with this opening line a number of occassions.

And this should be the opening line to every GF Advice thread on cfnet. "She used to push me around, but she's under my thumb, now."

this is a bad video, but this is the Rolling Stone in '81 at the Astrodome. Under My Thumb was the first song they played after we waited through the Fabulous Thunderbirds and ZZ-Top opening bands,, and a lighting failure that took 30 minutes. All 20,000 of us standing on the field.

another '81...leading the show...live at Hamptons

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/ggSt_BPeHvk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

1966...even back then starting off with Under My Thumb

I challenge about to beat this:

A couple of years back, I come across a great and wasted friend of mine in the hallway of a recording studio; and while he was reciting some poetry to me that he'd written, I saw that he was about a step away from dyin' and I couldn't help but wonder why.

Well, if you're gonna roll like that, Willie wins.

I love that song, and that line...and it's a great line to start a concert!!! most definitely but we now must compare second lines, which really are just one line, no? Willie's second line is singing to guys who lost their women, so just get drunk, man. Mick's second line makes it clear he got them back under his thumb.

So, what advice would you give to GF Threads about losing a girl. Willie (get drunk) or Mick (getting her back under your thumb).

    Interestingly two different takes.

    just saying
