One of the worst gm's in the league, one of the worst starting qb's in the league, and only one impact player on defense. Pretty much sums up this bunch.
Oh, I read it... you listed counting statistics and then sort of, kind of conveniently left off that Fitzpatrick's were accumulated in more games, which not only discounts that the numbers are "comparable," it heightens how not comparable they are. Wilson is on pace to score 28 TDs to Fitzpatrick's 21 and throw 6 INTs to Fitzpatrick's 14. I would agree that they have "similar" roles; I would disagree that they are performing comparably in those roles. And not for nothing, Wilson doesn't have the luxury of throwing to AJ/Nuk, who are both significanly better than any Seahawk WR, which also sets his performance even further from Fitzpatrick's.
Agreed. I don't think they are a disappointment because I expected this... But the GM we have is terrible. No matter how good a coach is he won't be able to get past hour badly the cap is handled.
Okay I'll break it down for you piece by piece in hopes that spelling it out will help. percentage numbers don't change drastically with the addition of one game, QB ratings don't change drastically with the addition of one game. The numbers are still comparable given that Fitz was ahead of RW in most cumulative stats. Again, I brought up that Wilson is a better running back than Fitz, but when you look at their passing TD's they are comparable. Also, I pointed the picks out in both posts and now in a third. It's no secret that Fitz has been unlucky with tipped passes getting picked. If you comprehended the initial post that i wrote about it then you wouldn't have posted then because we are saying the same thing. If you were to guess, what would you think "That's just the thing, Fitz IS playing the Russell Wilson role, he's just not doing as good a job at it" means? Are you arguing with me just to argue with me?
It all starts at the top. There has been on consistent person over the last 12-13 years and that is Grandpa McNair. He hires the GM's, he has a lot of say over the head coach and the top of the draft. The Texans are not TERRIBLE, they just lack any vision or creativity, edge or sense of urgency and that is all a reflection of the philosophy of the owner. We can b**** and moan over Smith, like we did Casserly. We can question O'Brien like we did Capers and Kubiak. Ultimately none of that will matter as long as McNair is the man running the show. If the Texans do get someone special in the front office or on the sidelines, it will be dumb luck.
I doubt it. It didn't help your 10-6 prediction. It didn't help your guaranteed win over the Steelers. It didn't help your insistence that Clowney is a warrior. Not really. Fitzpatrick has nearly 3 times as many interceptions. Wilson has a QBR rating of 61 and Fitz has a QBR of 45. Wilson has 250 more rushing yards. It isn't even remotely close to being similar in production. I got you, Fitz has more interceptions because of all these tipped passes.... sure. He is playing the Wilson role? Sure I guess if you mean both are NFL QB's.
My prediction was 8-8 with a chance at 10-6 which looks pretty solid given that they could still win 8 games and they've given 3 games away so far. "Not really" isn't a reply that logically follows my comment. Congratulations, I pointed this out 3 times already. QBR is a garbage stat, no credible person that doesn't work for ESPN would cite it. Congratulations, in literally every post about this subject I've pointed out that RW is a better running back than Fitz. That would be exactly why. Most of Fitz's interceptions (though obviously not all) have come from tipped passes which aren't generally blamed on the QB unless their fanbase is looking for a scapegoat. Nope, not at all what I mean, but given the content of most of your posts, I wouldn't expect you to follow along.
Foles/Sanchez threw three picks. Fitzpatrick had defenders in his face all game and had a 2/1 TD/INT ratio. I'm not saying he had a great game but he was not the reason the team lost. This one goes to the injuries to the secondary and the offensive line's ongoing struggles. Maybe Fitz is third after those.
We don't "suck." The Raiders and Jags suck. We're just not very good. We will probably finish this season 8-8. In the big picture, that's really not that bad considering we were 2-14 last year and we have a new head coach. If the colts win tonight, I think it's time to play Mallet. If not, hell, we're still only a game behind them.
Yeah, I could get behind that. I still see 8-8 happening unless we go with Mallett and tank, but if the Colts win tonight, they'll be realistically out of reach and we'll be realistically out of reach of a wild card berth so there's no reason not to give Mallett a shot if for no other reason than to show Texans fans what a terrible QB actually looks like.
Are you saying that at least 5 of Fitzpatrick's interceptions have been tipped by a Texans' receiver and then intercepted? Or are you saying that a defensive player tipped the ball shortly after being released? The one against the Steelers bounced off someone's head before being picked, but it was not a Texan receiver nor was it a lineman with his hands up. Demeco Ryan's interception was not tipped. At least two of his three interceptions against the Giants were not tipped. So, the 4 interceptions I was able to (relatively) easily find video of were not tipped.
Tipped passes can be at the line or at the receiver. I'm not sure if there has been 5 of them, but I could probably go back and check. There's at least 3 of them that I remember (and when a ball is deflected by a helmet it counts as tipped) and you can add on the play where Arian ran the wrong route to get up to at least 4 of his 8 picks not being the type that we generally blame QB's for. I think it'll be interesting to see his adjusted interceptions that FO will put out after the season.
While a pass that hits the helmet may count as a tipped ball, that one was a poorly thrown ball. I used 5 since that comprises 'most' since he has thrown 8.
A deflected pass is a deflected pass and they usually aren't held against QB's unless they are being scapegoated. I don't know if there is 5 interceptions that "aren't his fault" or just 4, either way, it's a significant percent of his total either being half or 62.5% of them.
That's where I'm at. I couldn't pick the "we're AWESOME" choice in the poll, because it's obviously not true. But to say the Texans suck this year is over the top. This is a mediocre team with the typical problems of a mediocre team. With a team like Atlanta, a good QB can't cover up a bad O line and running game. In our case, a bad QB can't be masked by a defense without depth. I think this team could be a playoff team with a solid (unspectacular) QB like Alex Smith. OR if could be a playoff team with improved depth on defense in the secondary and ILB.
He was being hit as he threw and the ball came out like a duck. All INTs are not equal. You can assign different amounts accountability based on the circumstance. Whether a receiver tipped the ball or ran a wrong route, whether a lineman tipped it, whether the QB was being hit as he threw, or whether it was just a bad throw or bad read by the QB. You can blame Fitz for maybe not feeling the pressure and/or trying to make a play instead of tucking it and taking the sack, but it's not like it was just a bad throw.
That you made a mistake not hitting the SUBMIT REPLY button as soon as you finished typing it because you then followed it up with a bunch of botched misinformation that led to you saying: Let’s reset: you’re the one that listed the counting stats free of context, Bobby; not me. Which begs the question: did you know Wilson had only played eight games to Fitzpatrick’s nine? Given that four of the seven categories you cited were cumulative, and thus rendered any notion of them being “comparable” incorrect, not to mention how quickly you downshifted into defensive posturing, I’d wager you didn’t. There’s nothing “comparable” about a +7 TD/-11 TO pace, Bobby.
