    LOL - zero credibility.

Playing "devil's advocate" for 6 years - 6,000 posts - "but for the last 7 years though I have been genuine in my posts".

Why should anyone believe this now?

Tomorrow, he might start arguing something completely different and tell us "oh, for the last 7 years, I was playing devil's advocate, too".

    Weakest cop-out ever.

The next time a politician gets accused of flip flopping, I hope they run with this.

"What, you mean when I was for it before I was against it? Look, I was just playing devil's advocate back then."

Well that's interesting. So what exactly can we believe from you? Those posts from years ago didn't exactly look like a person playing devil's advocate. My political positions have changed a ton since I've been on clutchfans. There is no shame in admitting that.

A lot of those arguments came from a cousin of mine who is very anti-Islam. We would argue and I would put his arguments in here to get good counter arguments.

Of course no one has to believe me. I didn't take the board seriously back then and just thought of it as a place to mess around. It wasn't cool and I certainly am not proud of it. That's why I changed my handle and came back - it was actually rockets judoka who convinced me to come back and be genuine.

Unfortunately, there are just some people who will never let that happen, and are here more for a laugh than for intellectual debate. Certainly, you can't blame them for it. I was once that small minded. I don't wish to be that again though.

I figured after 7 years that people would accept an apology and move on. But it looks like that is not the case. And with that, I think it's time to end my time on this BBS. This handle will always be a source of distraction from having interesting conversations about topics or even the Rockets. It's not worth the energy. Plus ATW's obsession is getting a bit weird and making me a little uncomfortable.

Yeah I do agree that the NewYorker posts were more abrasive than your posts. Fwiw I haven't thought of you as coming off as bigoted when discussing these issues, but I don't keep up with D&D like I used to.

What is abnormal is someone making more than 6,000 posts in 6 years and then later claiming he "was just playing devil's advocate" and he was not genuine and has basically been lying for 6 years - but that we should trust him that he has been genuine for the 7 years after that.

    THAT is abnormal.

Exposing that is not - it's actually amusing, and it had to be done. And it didn't cost me a lot of time (maybe 10-20 minutes) - it was too easy.

I suggest you worry about yourself.

This reminds me a lot of the MacBeth thread where it came out that he presented stories like being born to a virgin and all kinds of other nonsense. After he was exposed, he left in shame.

Probably the right thing to do after someone's credibility was absolutely destroyed (by the person himself).

    Edit: Oh, there we go.

Yup, now we get yet another explanation...the "cousin story". First, it was just playing devil's advocate, now it's the cousin.

I have little doubt that he will be back - with new positions and a new user name - once he gets outed (which he will), probably explaining to us that it was actually his uncle that was posting the whole time under "Sweet Lou 4 2".

And with that, I have to agree with the OP - this jerk ATW deserves a timeout.

He will take a timeout - might be a few days, a few weeks or longer.

    We will see.

    Odd. Whatever makes you happy.

Edit... You started the thread.... Edit.... Thanks to whoever repped me and reminded me Glynch started the thread and not Lou. Can I make some more dumb mistakes and get free rep?

    Well....

    Go Rockets!

Actually, he is making you look awful here. You have no credibility whatsoever after reading what he posted. No amount of excuses will change that

dont ever stop posting brah. fly your flag with pride!

just dont expect to not be reminded of your past behavior when you accuse other posters of doing exactly what you used to do (or perhaps doing now?).

Don't get why people (besides ATW) are piling on Sweet Lou, who has been no trouble for years. Just like Sweet Lou as NewYorker was kinda a dick, ATW back when he was Sir Jackie Chiles was not at all obsessed with the evils of Islam. Time -- and a new moniker -- changes people.

As for the original thread, there is no policing here in the D&D. If basso can say what he says, ATW is probably safe. It's a little tiresome that 9 out of 10 threads here are about Islam. But, that's on me and the good actors here to start new threads on subjects we're interested in. If it wasn't for ATW's Islam threads and basso's Obama threads, would there be any discussion here?

Does ATW deserve to be banned? Of course not. But he certainly should understand when to take a chill pill. I've realized now that it's not his anti-Islam views that irk me, but rather his incessant desire to start a new thread on any activity related to Islam. But what makes it even worse is that, as intelligent and well-reasoned as he is, he uses a very condescending style to belittle others. And again, it's the same, relentless manner in which he attacks others.

Is it like the rest of us don't know these extreme actions are taking place? Is it that we don't know ATW's views already? Is he enlightening us with such discussion? Or with every post is he basically just saying "See? Islam is bad; I told you so"?

That's how I see it, and that's why I'd be just as fine with a massive, stickied ISLAM thread in the D&D, where ATW can post updates whenever he feels like. Or how about having sub-categories in D&D: Religion, Politics, etc.? Obviously these things won't happen, which brings me to my original point. I think ATW would be a more effective arguer if he learned when to take breaks. As ridiculous as bigtexxx and basso are in their posting styles, they don't use the D&D as their daily anti-Obama or anti-liberal dumping site. And it's why they do make valid and effective points at times.

As it is now, it's just the same thing over and over with ATW. The same routine. Every day. The shtick got old with me a while back, which is when I put him on ignore. And yes, it helps wonders.
