Our defense was ranked 8 until Dwight went out, and then dropped to 13, what was that laker game? like 145-130 ? How good were we when our defense dropped to about 20th during that Dwight free stretch? not very.
What I'm saying is there's a lot of bias when it comes to our squad. Last year before the Portland series the majority of the people in here were talking about a sweep, beating them in 5 games, etc. and despite everyone talking about how bad our defense was it didn't stop anyone from saying we'll have a great season. Yet Dallas has a lot of offensive firepower and now it's their defense that will hold them back>? Just pointing out what I'm seeing and trust me if theirs one team I'd like to see fall flat on their face besideds the Lakers it's Dallas
Well with better defensive personel last year, Dallas was 22nd in defensive efficiency. We were 12th, and were top 10 until Howard and Bev went out. Comparing apples to ****, man.
We lost in the first round because our defense was terrible. I don't even know why I tried to point out that there's a little bit of homerism going on around here and extra hate towards Dallas. Carry on, as far as the thread is concerned I agree we have a legitimate shot at the 3 seed.....
Portland were a sniper team, they had a punchers chance, we knew it, they knew it, that team would get hot to ridiculous levels and they did it in our playoff series (refs and bevs health helped them too), then they couldn't hit jack **** against San Antonio. They weren't better than us anymore than they weren't 15 points per game worse than the Spurs, such is basketball.
Well, I intentionally didn't base anything off those 3 games. I made this thread because after listening to a podcast, I started thinking about which teams are actually better than us. And I realized, with OKC being hampered, we actually might have a shot at the 3rd seed. It was just something I thought should be pointed out.
And get matched up against a 6th seeded OKC team with a healthy Durant/Westbrook........I hope this doesn't happen. But a series against a 6th seeded Mavs team would be fun.
He was our only productive bench player, and he wasn't that good, which was the problem with our bench, there was 1 guy, lol.
Asik was forcing his way out, and we got a 1st round pick from that trade. Ariza is a better fit for this team, and cheaper
Not to mention Rockets outscored them for the series, so many close games Still believe we were the better team but oh well.
our bench is better though, because there's 2-3 guys that can all produce somewhat reasonably, rather than 1 guy sporadically.
