A good way to make him stop would be for muslim violence to stop happening so much...I dunno...I think he makes good points albeit a bit too often perhaps.
ATW, by his own admission, can sometimes be a bit childish, but he argues his positions pretty soundly. He's a bright guy and does a better job of being intellectually honest than most posters in D&D and has a higher signal-to-noise ratio than most. Even if I disagree with him, he's actually providing debate, which is refreshing. I'd prefer that he post (and debate) on other topics he has opinions on, like European politics, energy policy, business or Korean food, and I think the board has topic fatigue on ATW's Daniel Pipes impression, but that's what the ignore feature is for. ATW, basso and bigtexx might all post things that people don't like, but they have all contributed something meaningful to discussions here (including actual basketball ones), and I've repped them all when they did, sometimes when I disagreed most. The fact that they are educated conservatives and outspoken about their opinions shouldn't be something to punish them for. I'm here to talk to other Rockets fans, and I pretty much regard anyone who is a fan of my team to be a friend unless proven otherwise. ATW could be more respectful of other posters, but the same can be said at least as much of the OP calling for him to be banned. Try to be a civil grownup, deal with people here as you would in real life, post about other topics of interest, don't take things personally, and failing that, use the ignore function.
I can't say I agree here. You can't censor someone because you disagree with them and/or because they feel really strongly about something you disagree with.
No but he is the most frightening single issue poster I believe I've ever seen. Obsessed is probably too light a characterization.
Of course not, glynch. It's freedom of speech, something you believe in, remember? ATW's threads engender debate, obviously, and isn't that what D&D is for? Also, we aren't supposed to start threads "calling out" a particular member. If it wasn't for that, I'd start a thread about a couple of trolls who post in this forum constantly. ATW is not a troll.
Ban glynch. I hate reading typos and poor grammar and spelling. I am OFFENDED and demand recompense! If it bothers you why don't you make well written and logical posts to counter him? Oh...wait...never mind. Maybe ask some of your friends to join up and be on your side versus him? Or ignore. Or replace "Muslims", "Islam", and other related words with "toast" when you read his posts to find your happy place. A world of possibilities awaits you, glynch.
Though ATW seems to have a pretty serious phobia or dislike for Islam, and while I find the sheer volume of threads started by him on the subject pretty silly, there are several other posters I would ban first (and since even those haven't been given the heave, I suspect the chances are between little and none that ATW will be banned). He tosses out insults as a way to rationalize his dismissal of other posters' positions, but does it far less egregiously than others I have seen here. His posts are worthy of oftentimes, but I suspect that if this were grounds for dismissal, the D&D would be vacant. I don't enjoy his Islamophobia, but he is just as entitled to have ignorant opinions as the OP is. Were this a poll, I would have voted 'no'.

So many problems are solved that way. I've only had to use it twice, but it's the single greatest feature of CF.
Isn't this typical of the Muslim community? Don't address the issue at hand, have no sense of internal accountability, but try to squash all those that question them? throw them in the torture chamber and feign outrage to have them killed/banned? sorry flynch, that's not how the developed world works. that's not how cultured society works. lolololololol That said, ATW is harmless. just seems to have a lot of personal acid for no good reason. You ban him here, he'll just stew that acid internally. I'm a huge fan of not banning anybody's beliefs unless they're threatening your or somebody's physical safety---up to this point ATW hasn't done that.

Islamic community can't keep sweeping criticism under the rug and squashing all the so called "infidels". an in house reformation is needed, one that would help glynch out in the long run.
