From what I understand Powell gets the development job and Kenyon Martin was so impressive that he's getting Tad Brown's job.

So nearly every guy from Georgia, Atlanta is also "his boy"?

Does Rondo have a friend we can hire as GM?

Kenyon Martin forces Dish & Suddenlink to pick up Root Sports after elbowing their representatives into submission.

I don't agree with this but you have to take care of Dwight's demand.

Wasn't there some alleged Celtic executive who pushed really hard to draft Rondo back in the day? Supposedly that guy got hired to be GM elsewhere to be a stat geek.

I reject the notion that his not earning a roster spot means he isn't qualified to be a development coach. I'd doubt that Sam Cassell, Mario Ellie, or even Shane Battier could earn roster spots for a team like ours, but at the end of their playing days they were all more than qualified to be a development coach. I agree that there are other factors likely at play, but those don't necessarily mean that he can't coach player development.

This pays Powell more than dleague and keeps him state side working out with the team. Will be interesting to see what Silver says about it if we trade away some guys later in the season and bring Powell back to the roster.

    BAE with next season non-guaranteed?

Sometimes borderline NBA players do better as coaches (IE Phil Jackson, Scott Brooks, Rick Carlisle etc.)

However I suspect in this case, its more to do with relationships, or more specifically Powell's relationship with Dwight as his sparing buddy.

If Josh Powell is really that good at motivating, pushing him, and counselling him off the court than I'm totally fine with it. Anything to get the best out of Dwight these last few years of his prime.

But these guys at least developed their own careers.

All those guys were twice as good as Powell..Not exactly a strong argument.

It's pretty clear they are doing Dwight a favor.

I never disputed that this is a favor to Dwight. I simply reject the notion that because he is currently a marginal NBA player means he can't be a good player development coach.

there's plenty of former players in the NBA that are a part of teams coaching staffs that haven't had that great of a career.
