You said it yourself, you can't expect him to make complex decisions or facilitate. He should be hesitant or, to phrase it differently, play within himself. Otherwise, you have a situation like Ariza's first tenure here where you have a young player forcing a bunch of awful plays. He has some nice qualities and can improve, but that will take time. On this particular team this season, less is more from Jones.

Sure I can agree with that. I just don't want us to go down the road of dismissing away good things he does as luck. This board has a hard enough time recognizing his talents as it is.

Well said. Spurs, Clippers, Thunder, Blazers and Warriors all have that PG.

When Jones and Howard are on the floor together, most of the attention is on Howard which Jones should be exploiting more. He seems to be out of position a lot and our PGs aren't necessarily looking for him. But on several occasions I've seen opportunities for an alley-oop or cut to the basket for an easy layup get overlooked because Jones is not presenting himself to enable that option. That or like I said, Bev is just not looking for him.

Nobody in the NBA shoots 50% from 3.....

Low 30% (ie 33ish) is acceptable for a PF. People love the idea of Thad Young as a stretch 4, but he was 30.8% from 3 last season.

If Jones did everything people expect of him, he would be all star MVP every year....

Sorry ..... I don't love the idea of Thad Young as a stretch-4 shooting 30.8% out there. People that love that don't know much about NBA basketball.

I actually think Terrence does a great job of exploiting the attention paid to Dwight.

What Terrence doesn't do is exploit the space given him to shoot the 3-ball because of the attention paid to Dwight. What Terrence does do is trail the action of H&H into the paint. He's very good at it, coming from the weak side and finishing off whatever he gets down there. Works great against poor, lottery teams. But when it comes to the big boys...the team gets in trouble because the space is compressed by both opponent bigs hanging out in the lane and being able to recover low (where they already are) when Terrence happens to get the ball down there.

It would be great if Jones was as good as Griffin on defense.

Given enough touches and with more experience, those star PF's wouldn't be able to defend TJ very well either.

Keep believing that. Until Terrence proves he can hit the outside shot, he's easy to defend.

I've said something similar myself several times , but I believe a big part of his problem is a lack of structure in the offense which forces him to make decisions all the time rather than work thru a well rehearsed play where he knows his role.

Not much argument from me here just have to point out .... Yes he's young but this is his 3rd season after starting the majority of last years games. He has a good amount of NBA experience.

Look at last nights game as an example. Jones struggled thru three quarters then McHale gave him some NoDoze and he woke up , when he did so did the Rockets and they put away an inferior opponent.
Against the good teams they cant afford for him to disappear for three quarters or finish with 3 boards. He has to play well on a consistent basis ....

Contributing and difficulty of defending are 2 different things.

See what all the Lin fans did to us???

We have to either love or hate every player on the team.

What happened to the good ol' days of supporting them all (except the ones that quit on the team)???

people just love to criticize and believe in their own scouting report, thinking they have what players do/need to do and what it takes to win figured out.

Indeed Boris Diaw shot the 3 ball very bad in his 1st few season. But now he is the best stretch 4 in Holics eye sight. People need to give Jones time. What he is doing for Rockets is pretty good. That’s one of the reasons why we won 50+.

Against the Lakers when D12 was in foul trouble Jones stepped his game up. He also did that a lot last season.

Ibaka couldn't even shut down Aldridge either. people need to stop thinking there's some shutdown defense for bigs especially the premier pf's in the league.

Ah yes! The Boris Diaw who shot sub 30% his first 3 seasons! I'm with you - Jones can make plays, he is fairly impressive for a 2nd year player. We have an all-star center, what we need is someone who can play alongside him.

Jones has no issue at all in providing spacing for our offence. His opposition big stays out with him, because he is a threat to hit a shot AND because he is a threat to get to the hoop if they leave him.
The statistics very clearly illustrate that, with him on the floor, we shoot better. On the offensive side of things, there is no question about what he brings.

It's his ability to defend which let him down last season. Good weakside shotblocker, but that was about it... needs to be tougher and not just get walked under the hoop.
