It's funny looking at PER after one game. Troy's -13.24 was the worst by a comfortable margin. For sure going to see better days ahead
I've been reading a lot of posts recently about the potential of troy daniels as well as a lot of posters asking for him to have a bigger role in the rotation. My question is: What exactly is his potential and why should he be in the rotation over Terry? I know Daniels has an amazing shot, but what else can he do?
Not much else. The moment teams focus on him and stick a man on him he becomes useless. He's not good at running his man into screens to get open and everytime he tries to get open he can't seal his man out to open a passing lane for a pass as he gets ball denied the whole time. Not like it matters, he is definitely not good enough to create his own shot or create for others, unless his man gives him space and he pulls up for a three. Terry might be a marginally worse shooter, but Terry brings more to the floor than Daniels does. He does seem to show an effort on defense most of the time, so he's not a complete liability on defense at the least. This is exactly what RGV commentators were saying about Daniels. He's very inconsistent when he played for RGV. He either shot you in a game or shot you horribly out of a game. And when watching a game when Canaan used to play D-League they mentioned they were somewhat happy that Canaan was there instead of Daniels.
