To be fair, his shot had the touch and texture of a literal cornerstone. I'm trying to look for the positive here.
I personally don't know how Chandler could consistently make that jump shot of his. I'm also pissed at Dirk. The league is built on the greed of players...not players taking pay cuts to build up a team. The fact is the Mavs should not be able to afford their current roster of players had Dirk not taken a huge pay cut. So, while the rest of the league has to pay their highest performing vets at or near max salaries, here's Dirk cheating the rest of the league by playing for peanuts. While everyone can sit there and say "well...oh...Dirk...he's doing a great thing by taking a pay cut so they can sign more talent"...it is not fair to the rest of the league and throws the whole max salary cap out the window. It's akin to cheating in my book.

I didn't say it was necessarily a valid argument...just that I'm pissed. I don't know the Spurs particulars but, if they got Duncan and guys like that doing it, then...yea...I'm pissed at them, too. How can you have a fair league with parity if some teams are made up of great players taking huge pay cuts so they can then have room to sign other great players? It's not normal. I could see taking small pay cuts to fit players but Dirk took an extreme pay cut. I think there should be rules against that but, obviously, would be difficult to enforce due to all the extenuating factors.
Don't worry, they blew the savings on Chandler Parsons. Monte Ellis is a baller and they got him cheap but that is what good GMs and owners do. They don't pay an old Kobe Bryant 30+ million or Chandler Parson 15 million.
You can pay an old Kobe $30M bc he helped bring you 5 rings. CP on the other hand is a tough call. Same thing could have been said about Harden when we signed him. Diff is first game of the season Harden busted out with 35+.
It would been another failed experiment from the mad scientist lab. He had a bad game which was pleasing to me, but Carlisle can utilize him better than Nellie.
And he got paid during these years when he helped bring 5 rings to LA. Why would you pay someone for an accomplishment from the past when he got paid to do it anyway? That's just stupid. And its not like his Lakers salary is his only income, these guys are making plenty of money off the court as well. Any smart player (or less selfish) would have taken a pay cut for the team. Not sure how much exactly Kobe made during his career, but Im guessing around 250-300m from the Lakers alone. Like taking 10-15m instead of 20+ wouldve killed him. Its not like people were expecting him to play for free.
That's funny stuff. Truth is, Dirk is gaining a competitive advantage through an option that is open to every player.
63.6% of the players who played last night scored equal to or more than Chandler Parsons did last night. However, Chandler Parsons makes more money than 92% of the people who played last night.
