Dwight Howard is an established superstar, Jones is in a position battle.....it's not good that he was so worthless out there in the first game. Obviously he could bounce back, but he'd better or he could get buried on the bench pretty easily if DMo and Adrien pass him.

T Jones had a nice steal last night.

Also he had a nice, mid-range baseline J that went in all swishy-like.

I like TJ's jumpshot. And his handle. And for how everyone talks bad about his D, he can guard 2 thru 5 which is valuable.

and that game wasn't even a real game. you think a game is going to be called like that once the regular season starts. its not really surprising though i guess, as overreaction is common occurrence around here

LOL, not well though. He's not good at defending anyone but Jones vs any 5 in the league would be hilarious to watch.

If we don't want to pay for his new contrac, we should move him.

He has issues with lateral movement against quick PF's on the perimeter, but he's Dwight Howard compared to Jones defensively.

it's the NBA, hes always gonna have that problem. if you think so then, Dmo should have gotten the starting spot a long time ago.

Agreed, or rather it should have been a platoon with Jones against the small PF's in the league and DMo against the rest of them. Of course, Jones could be the default starter for now until a competent backup 5 develops, otherwise DMo will have to be the primary backup 5 and you can't be the backup 5 and the starting 4.

Again Jones was going against starting PFs and the best PFs of the West whereas Dmo came off the bench and defended against bench guys.

You tell me. Jones has to get back to last year and improve on that for sure.

But it is preseason and b****ing in preseason is annoying. I get it.

Great first game to the season for TJones. He was active on the boards and played good on the ball and help defense in my opinion. He is now in his 3rd season...there should no longer be glimpses of his talent. This should be more of the norm. If it becomes the norm I will happily eat crow.

Nothing different here from last year yet. Terrence puts up great stat lines when we play lottery teams. Let's see how he matches up against Dallas, Memphis, Spurs, Clips, OKC.

Jones doesn't have to be a super star _ he just has to be a good piece to the puzzle and that he is... Howard and Harden are the guys who have to step up and be super star players because that's what they get paid to do...

yet Dmo plays against the same players and still sucking it up and has the same problems as before. can't wait for the next set of excuses to be added to the list

That is true. DMo has looked very mediocre.

    But......

DMo has not started and played significant minutes with H&H either.

    And...

That is about the only excuse he has left.

Didn't say he had to be a superstar.

    But....

I have said over and over....

for this team to win a championship they have to have a 4 man that can shoot the basketball from distance.

there's no reason for him to start. he struggles to even contribute playing against bench players.

There was no reason to start Terrence when we did either. He had struggled coming off the bench against bench players. And he never earned the starting spot. It was handed to him when Asik pouted. Go back and look at Terrence's numbers prior to starting, in the preseason last year and in the regular season the year before.

completely false. Asik was the experiment that obviously didn't work and it shouldn't have come as a surprise as you cant have Howard and Asik at the 4/5 starting. he earned the starting spot because obviously there's success with him in the starting lineup. As long as you keep lobbying for Dmo to start (no idea why) when he has no business to, its gonna be a long season for you as Dmo continues to struggle against even bench players
