Chandler is getting payed max money so WE expect him to play like a max superstar player... what if Dallas doesn't care how much Chandler is being payed and will just play him as the glue guy he is. Cuban signed/payed him out of spite. I would assume sticking it to Morey was more important than Parsons putting up all-star numbers to him. If Parsons continues to be a Battier type player and Dallas continues to win, I think Dallas would be fine with that.. BUT will Parsons be fine with that?
So basically he's doing the things that Ariza does? Move the ball...slash every now and then...play good off-ball defense.
Well he is making the most out of all of them by a large amount. I would be pretty mad if someone was getting a max to be a role player and I have a similar role for minimal salary.
Let's hope that Ariza shoots better haha I'm rooting for him to fail just as much as the rest of Clutchfans FYI. Just acknowledging that regardless of the expectations that come with a contract that size, Parsons will be a good glue guy for the Mavs, just like Ariza will be for us.
POF here......Carlisle is holding back Chandler potential to becoming a GOAT. He needs to be fire asap.
The thing I find most interesting is they seem to be freezing him out of the offense. I'm pretty sure it can't be intentionally, but he is functioning at best as the 4th option out there. There have been numerous possessions so far where he hasn't even touched the ball. They just look him off and pass it to somebody else. Ellis, Dirk, Nelson and even Harris when he was on the floor just seemed more involved in the sets. I'm surprised he has somehow managed to squeeze out 6 shots which is comparable with everybody not named Monte, but it just doesn't seem like he is doing what he probably thought he would be doing when Cuban sold him on Dallas. That said, this thread seems like it's pretty much going to be comical as the year progresses. I can sum it up pretty quickly how this is going to go with little effort. After every bad game we'll see people laughing at him, calling him a role player, and making fun of Cuban for overpaying him and when he has those really good games (he will) people will come in here crying about how Morey shouldn't have let him out of his contract early, he is a budding superstar and the missing piece to our title hopes and we let him go for nothing. Rinse and repeat.
I doubt too many people will be depressed after his good games. Parsons will have good statistical nights because of that offense and the fact that he is a good player. Not $15mil good, but he's starter quality and will have good games. Instead, I predict that if he has a good game, fans will just say he got lucky or he has Dirk/Monta to take the pressure off of him. Just like I'm sure Mavs fans are now using such cliched excuses as "He's still adjusting to the offense" and "He just had a bad shooting night" to explain his performance right now.
