You're probably in the minority there. The first half of Season 2 is by far my least favorite part of the entire series. The last half of Season 2 and the very beginning of Season 3 are probably my favorite.

And I consider the start of this season to be better than the 1st half of season 4. After the mid-season finale, I completely lost interest. I only picked it back up about a week before this season's premier.

Did they imply they planned on letting the cannibals enter the church to set them up? I must have missed it.

I didn't hear anything that implied it. I guess that was the plan all along and they didn't want the viewers to know it. Wouldn't have been as dramatic if they did.

It seemed weird... first you saw the team led by Rick heading away from the church and towards the school. Soon after you saw the cannibal team heading towards the church... on a slightly different path, but it seemed to me close enough that you'd think they would have seen or heard each other.

Don't know if Rick's team got to the school, saw no one was there, and hurried back to the church.

I guess but I think it was fairly obvious after the fact.

i'm curious as to why another network hasn't picked up their own zombie show.
I think one where they follow different groups of survivors around the globe would always keep things fresh. I guess zombies are expensive.

I've enjoyed this season the best and only three episodes in. As an avid watcher, I can't even remember what happened throughout seasons 2 and 3 in detail. =/

They're doing character arc stuff. He couldn't kill the dude in the cabin, but he manned up last night and took care of Bob so Sasha didn't have to. You can see that they brought him down to "I just can't kill" level so that they could bring him back up to badass level. Kind of like what they've done with Rick, even though that took forever.

It was all part of the plan by Rick. The Terminus people saw/heard Rick's group going to the school to look for them, so they went to the church to attack the people who stayed behind. But that's what Rick was counting on. So Rick and company went back to the church and did their silent ambush and massacre of the Terminus people.

I thought so too. Seemed pretty straightforward to me. When they were planning, Rick even said something to the effect of "they're expecting us to react emotionally and not rationally."

It's just annoying because like you said... it's been done already. Why redo the same storyline?

I did get a feeling of a civil war of sorts brewing too (that might be part of it. Half the group feeling shocked, losing their humanity - Rick being too aggressive, too cold blooded. That's an emerging angle that seems to be gaining steam. Trying to remain human when nobody else in the world seems to have.

I also think they did away with Gareth and company quickly to build up Rick and the group into badasses. They're handling business. Basically pros. This way, when the next bad guy* comes they will fall harder and you'll get more of a feeling for how difficult dealing with that villain is going to be.

I dont think so. If it was planned, why let them get so close to the door? the cannibals were very patient also, they could have easily rushed in to each room and shot at them.

They didn't seem to be gone long enough to make the round trip (father said 20 min round trip), but they let things develop too long inside the church for it to be planned. Or maybe Rick is that much of a bad ass now, that he'd let them get that close to his kids...

That's what i was looking for...seemed like an obvious thought to have, if they let Bob go after seeing where they were.

Someone please remind Maggie that she still has a sister that has gone missing.

Got a bf. Forgot family exists.

Also, is it just me or was the guy who played Gareth a poor choice for the character. I mean he looked like a fake frat boy. Never bought him as a tough and evil guy. The guy Tyrese let go would have made a better ring leader. No wonder he had to tell Gareth to shut up with "Are we done now?" when he kept blabbing like an idiot in the church.

Right. Was there even a scene about "where's Beth"? Or where Darryl tells Maggie how he was with Beth and then she was taken? Seems like finding her should've been a primary motivation of the group, even before Darryl saw the car with the cross on it. And if there were motivation for anyone to stick around to look for her instead of trotting off to DC, it would be Maggie.

    So my thoughts are:
    1) They're just finding a way to split the cast up again so that they can save money by not having everybody in every episode. As a result, they've purposely decided to make Beth and afterthought in these first few episodes so that Glenn and Maggie are free to leave and fewer people will ask the question you just did.

2)Similar to recycling the transformation of Rick from p***y to badass for Tyrese, they might be recycling the Glenn/Maggie separation storyline from last season, drawing out the length of time Maggie and Beth are apart so that the eventual reunion has a supposedly bigger emotional impact.
