Looking to go on a road trip somewhere with nature and a sight to behold. Preferably not farther than 3 hours away. I've already been to Austin. Basically some place someone could take good photos and find peace just being there. In addition, also looking for a place where I could read a book, like in a park of some sort. Not too loud, but not too hot either. Maybe a library, but preferably somewhere I don't need to check in.
Shouldn't Lost Maples State Park be turning colors about now? <img src="http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/lost-maples/gallery/lost-maples_959.2_647.jpg" width=800>
For something local, maybe try Jesse Jones park and nature preserve along spring creek. http://www.hcp4.net/jones/amenities.htm
Yeah, look at shastarockets tree color link. They'll update it regularly at this time of year. But, according to your OP, it might be a little out of your planned driving range. It's west of San Antonio. It's quiet, though, and very beautiful at full colors, as you can see. It really is an oasis of maples in the middle of Texas.
