So if it's a blow out... Why not put in the bench? 2 min left? 8pts and on side kick isn't happening.
Don't believe the hype on Newton. If you want to kick the can and not gamble on a QB this year, get a quality pick at 33. They didn't. People live in their own reality
he has 3 years left on his contract. mcnair doesn't want to eat that money while paying kubiak's final year. expect him to be fired in the offseason.
He'll be the fall-guy... and BOB will bring in his own patsy. Complaining about Rick Smith really takes away from the core of the problem... this was a team with diminishing talent as of 2 years ago, and its going to take more than 1 off-season to get back to being totally respectable.
You're right..we might lose this game. I don't see the cost at this point. This isn't a playoff team. You traded for him..let's see what he has. In all likelihood, you're right and he's nothing worth keeping. But at least you'll be making that decision based off real NFL reps.
Not comparing sports per se, just the "great individual player surrounded by a mediocre team" analogy that this city has seen before.
If anybody thinks Mallett is really in the future plans of the Texans, all you have to do is look at the TV. If they're not going to put him in now, they never are. It tells you what they think of him, which isn't much.
And what have you gained other than a reputation for incompetence as a head coach by randomly pulling your QB for a worse QB?
You have no idea what is keeping XSF currently from reaching the potential they saw in him... I'll probably be patient enough to give him more time to figure it out than half a season.
Did the diminishing talent have anything to do with the dumpster fire drafts Smith has pulled out of his butt? With those off seasons you move backward. Great. From this point he has been a less than stellar for #33
Sad, just sad. 24-0 in 3 minutes.... Buffalo-esk.... smhhhhhh 3 f****n losses in a row... and 4 of 5. Defense no longer forcing TOs, offense fumbling and dropping passes, special teams fumbles... nothing but crap.
But that's the inherent difference between football and basketball. Individual talent can be the difference between a contending NBA team and a lottery one... not so much in the NFL, ever.
