It doesn't mean what you seem to think it means. You are saying he would have rear ended you if you would not have switched but in switching lanes (from center to left) you were hit on the passenger side door?

That sounds impossible. Turning left would have hide your drivers side door. What lane was he initially in?

I was going west on Hwy 6 and he was coming out of a shopping center, trying to turn east onto HWY6. Which means you have to keep a sharp eye on both sides of traffic. Until traffic is clear on both sides, then you make a run for it. I always knew these types of turns were dangerous.

Vaioavan63, edit your pic and remove your license plate. A buddy taught me that a looong time ago when I sent him pics of my cars.

I went ahead and removed the pic. Still a bit pissed. I don't have time for this editing crap.

Of course. You didn't break because you have the right of way and you just expected that he would. And in order for YOU to avoid breaking you switched lanes.

I'm sorry. But while he may be ultimately at fault for the aciddent, you COULD have avoided this accident by breaking, by watching what people do, instead of owning the lane like you are a sherman tank.

I deal with crazies like this every day who see perfectly clear that you are trying to get over or a thousand other things but instead of being courteous, you hit the gas because breaking are for wussies.

This is my first accident since is started driving 15+ years ago. I angrily went up to to him and yelled at him in spanish ( cuz of course he didn't know english) "didn't you see me? !Didn't you see me?!" I noticed his eyes were red and so did my mom and sister when they arrived at the scene. Didn't surprise me, the sad truth, my people get a thrill when driving drunk in their old ass trucks. The guys truck was a 02 single cab Dodge Ram. I didn't even hit the gas. When he hit me I held on for dear life to the steering wheel and hoped that I didnt flip.

My tiny bit of advice: ignore the poster "what." Think of the kind of guy who would come into this thread and insult your driving with basically no evidence. See what I mean? Don't engage.

All best wishes with the insurance system moving forward. Maybe it will all go better than you expect. Deep breaths.

Yea I'm not sweating it, a sherif on the scene told me that my prospects are good for getting a another truck seeing as the other guy admitted it was his fault even though he didn't have to cuz the evidence was clear as water. I'm just shocked he had insurance. Seeing as most of my paisanos usually flee after a car wreck.

Had the same thing happen to me. A Mexican (with no license or insurance, didn't speak English) was crossing traffic trying to turn left. But the way wasn't clear, and he didn't have enough room to pull into the median. I slammed on my brakes when I saw it happening but still skidded into his left rear tire. He was at fault, cops gave him the ticket. But he tried to fight it and I was subpoenaed to go to court. He made a deal when he saw I showed up.

I didnt have time to hit the brakes but I thought that by switching to the lane farthest from him he would see me and he would hit on his brakes. But no, all of a sudden i felt the impact and I held on to the steering wheel for dear life. The thought of "please don't flip" raced thru my mind as I spun out of control and hit the median on HWY 6.Seeing as I heard that lifted truck are prone to rolling over. I came out unscathed. No wonder several people ahhhhhh'd at me as stood by my wrecked truck while the other moron received medical attention.

Of course not I had 4 witnesses back me up and the sheriff making the report immediately determined it was the other guys fault. now it's time to battle the insurance. They will try to find every loophop possible but I sure as hell dont want to drive my truck again after seeing the damage. I'm not very mechanically inclined but there were bent and broken pieces all over the place, several liquids were leaking. Sorry to sound like a noob but a piece going to the rear axle was completely snapped from the rear axle, maybe it's the piece that pushes the front wheels? It was just a complete mess. No way in hell anyone in their right mind would want that repaired and drive it again like nothing ever happened.

It depends on the insurance company... I only do it as a living... Personal injury suits and writing the actual policy language insurance companies use.

Not sure where you got your information from but considering I have written a lot of the actual policy language in insurance policies including collision and PD I am going to say in many cases you are wrong.

I can see how some of you can judge or laugh and I feel bad for those miserable individuals who got a thrill out of filming or photographing my wrecked truck. Some people driving by shook their heads at me like it was the end of the world. Some guy even made a U turn just to get a closer look, according to my sister. Like I told my dad when he dropped me off after the accident and we both agreed "this is just materialistic stuff, I'm just glad nothing happened to me and I have my sisters (no brothers, im the only boy) and my parents in my life". Something most people wish they had. So I'll take it day by day and see how this plays out. This was mostly my weekend ride anyways, only 3k miles since I got it in july.

Feel free to think things that are incorrect. I just want the actual facts to be out there in the sea of BS.

How do you have time to change lanes but not hit the brakes? You are in a big lifted truck and think you own the road. You shouldn't be shocked you were hit, even if the other guy is at fault, you could have easily avoided this.
