I can understand how casual fans of the game that aren't able to tell the difference would think that way. For me, it's a totally different game. If the Astros still played real baseball, I'd still be a fan, simple as that. What it boils down to is if you were a fan of the game they were playing, or if you were just a fan of the franchise. I wasn't just a fan of the franchise. I'm curious, if they give up gimmickball and switch to playing cricket will you stick with your team?
Cricket is a completely different game. AL vs NL is fewer sacrifice bunts and a different strategy regarding pitching changes.
Sure there is. People who are no longer fans of the team are, by definition, not true fans. Those "fans" who rooted for the Astros and do not any longer (yet, still somehow fill the need to post here, just go away) are not fans of the Astros. It's pretty simple.
Gimmickball is a version of baseball with the strategy almost entirely removed, that makes it a completely different game IMO. It's baseball for dummies basically and I don't enjoy watching it and never have. For me, it's the same as if one day they just started playing cricket. They might as well have because I find cricket and gimmickball equally interesting.
Pretty sure baseball was created from Cricket. Cricket has been around much longer. Either way, both sports are boring as ****.
I'm amazed at the number of people who don't like baseball and/or the Astros posting in the subforum titled: "Houston Astros."
It's a nostalgic thread about a player back when there was real baseball in Houston, why wouldn't that bring out the former fans?

The strategy reamins. I'm sorry if you don't watch, because they still hit and run. They still steal bases. They still sacrifice bunt. They still pinch hit, and switch out pitchers based on situations. There aren't double switches. That is your biggest strategy difference.
No, there are just varying ideas existing in people's minds about "true fandom" so that they can elevate their personal feeling of loyalty over their perception of someone else's. It's an entertainment choice, and that's all it is. Nope. They are simply no longer fans of the team. Unless of course, you're still a fan of the Titans. Oops! Guess you weren't a "true fan!" if you quit on the team just because they left town and their owner acted like a jerk. indeed, it's very simple. they were fans; now they aren't. "True fan" = unicorn.
