They probably would've gotten to the Super Bowl in '11 if Schaub hadn't gotten hurt. He was more than good enough to win with before his lisfranc injury and implosion.
if ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry christmas. this is the last I shall ever speak of Oakland's 3rd string QB. you guys proceed to reminisce on the "good old days".
Holy hyperbole Batman! We did get Clowney and swapping out our 3rd string rookie QB for another rookie to be our 3rd string QB wouldn't have made it any better. If anything, people would be bashing the Texans for drafting a benchwarmer QB with that high of a draft pick.
I like Jimmy G too, but did David Carr leave such a bad taste in our mouth that we completely ignore what his baby brother has been doing...???
Those #'s were equivalent to an NBA team that was getting beat by 20-30 points the 1st 3 quarters but managed to get within 8-10 points by the end of the game. Box score watchers would think the game was close but it actually never was.
Through week 5, his baby brother was not good. Very David Carr like...5.5 ypa, lots of dump offs, with low 60s completion percentage. He had his first good week on Sunday. I dont think anyone was ignoring what he has been doing because there really wasnt much to talk about.
You realize we were ahead in the majority of those games over 5 seasons, right? You talk as if we had a losing record over that span...when, in reality, it was 1 season our defense gave up a lot of points and we had to air it out to get back into the games. Dont make stuff up.
What happened to him? He used to be a beast on plays like a screen, etc. He can't block in open space any more. I think it's a weight issue if I had to guess. Tyron Smith is a beast physically bc he's not a fat ass.
Didnt he have a foot issue in training camp last year? Maybe that has something to do with it, but he hasnt been the same guy. And you're right, on plays like a screen, he would advance forward and demolish whoever was in his path. He's definitely not that player anymore.
You're holding onto that YPA stat for dear life aren't you... Lmao... Anyway _ 5.5 YPA is better than what Teddy had when he finally faced a real defense this past Sunday. Carr had to face J.J., New England, and San Diego. Plus he's been throwing TD's as well which is something Teddy has yet to do... YPA could also have something to do with the receiving core as well, but I'm sure you never considered that. If you actually "watch" the games _ Carr looks pretty darn good for a rookie.
I'm not the one who came up with the stigma of "the Texans offense gets off to a slow start" during that period dude... I guess everyone is making that up huh...???
What does Teddy have to do with anything...Teddy has done nothing but suck and get injured. Carr is the best looking rookie QB right now, but that doesnt mean people should be talking about him left and right. He's been decent, but nothing to write home about. And no, I wouldnt say he looks darn good for a rookie. He looked good on Sunday, but not previous to that.
Who ever said the Texans get off to slow starts during that time period? What stigma is that? Do you just believe random **** and roll with it? 2008: The Texans were up, tied, or down by less than 7 points at halftime in 13 of the 16 games. 2009: The Texans were up, tied, or down by less than 7 points at halftime in 12 of the 16 games. 2010: The Texans were up, tied, or down by less than 7 points at halftime in 9 of the 16 games. 2011: The Texans were up, tied, or down by less than 7 points at halftime in 14 of the 16 games...AND Schaub never trailed at halftime that entire season. In fact, the Texans outscored their opponents by 100 points by halftime. 2012: The Texans were up, tied, or down by less than 7 points at halftime in 12 of the 16 games. In all, over the 5 years, the Texans were winning or within 1 possession at halftime in 60 of the 80 games...or 75% of the time. So, tell me, where exactly do you come off making a comment like: Like I said, you make stuff up.
No one is talking about Carr left and right... HTown brought up Teddy. Nimo brought up Jimmy. And I brought up Carr... But yet you jump on me about Carr when you could have easily jumped on Nimo about Jimmy when Jimmy hasn't even started a game... Why you hating bruh...??? So you expect rookie quarterbacks to be as good as John Elway was as a rookie
I commented with your Derek Carr comment because you asked a question...let me remind you: So, the answer is no, people arent ignoring what Carr has been doing because of the bad taste left by David. People are ignoring Derek because he hasnt done anything noteworthy, like Teddy and Jimmy. It's really as simple as that. And no, I dont expect rookie QBs to be as good as Elway. I dont understand that point or what that has to do with anything. I would however, expect rookies to perform at Tannehill rookie level, at the least, if they are deemed good enough to start. And up until Carr's performance this last Sunday, he was far from that.
Good info... So what you're saying is the offense was slow in the 2nd half. Question... What was Schaub's passing yards in the 1st half during those seasons. And just do his 2 biggest years because those are a lot of numbers to crunch.
It was a rhetorical question dude... And like I said _ do you expect rookie quarterbacks to be like John Elway was his rookie year...? That's a question specifically for you to answer.
