Same guys griping about Canaan not passing the ball are griping about Rubio not shooting the ball. Unless we get CP3 they're gonna gripe.

not really, we'd be cool with rubio as our backup pg, rubio would be good if he was surrounded by shooters when he was on the court and wasn't expected to play at crunch time.

LOL. You'd be griping about paying him too much money to be a backup.

Hate to say it but the greatest need on this team is STILL a sweet 3-point shooting PF that can play effective D and rebound alongside Dwight. I just don't see it in any of the 4's we have on the roster. DMo looks somewhat capable but he simply likes to take it inside and seems to not even want to spot up in the corner. T_ones definitely is still eschewing the 3-ball in favor of taking the ball inside and drifting inside for slop when he doesn't have the ball. Kostas isn't big enough to play D at the 4-spot. Adrien and Black have looked good in their roles. But their role is garbage man bangers. Adrien has a little 10 footer that is somewhat effective. But that's about the limit of his range. I don't think Black even has a jump shot. We haven't seen Powell yet and perhaps that's by design. I know he can shoot an 18 footer. Don't know if he can back it up to 23 feet and shoot it in volume.

I still say we haven't found the 4-man that will make this offense virtually indefensible. But he's out there somewheres.

what is interesting to note is that KP even though was 2-10 FG and had 5 fouls, he still got some rebounds, assists, steals. which resulted in a +3 for the game.

howard bumped knees with someone in practice before the last game, and harden had some minor injury I think (or he's resting)

Defensive teams rarely rely much or have use of a 3 point shooting PF...
If we have inside toughness, grit and rebounding it will be enough for swings to score

Last year we needed one because we used to outscore the opponent. I think we have enough scoring IMO.... all we need is continue to develop a game plan

Trade some guys for a veteran PG, and those PFs work on a reliable jumper inside the arc for spacing purposes

Playing defense doesn't require you to play smash mouth grind-it-out offensive basketball. This is preseason. The games don't count. And we ain't looking at the playoff rotation of the top teams in action. When it gets to that point.....in other words when the tide rolls out and your basketball team is left with every weakness exposed to bake in the sand under the blazing sun our weakness at the 4-spot will kill us off like it did last year....unless we get that sweet shooting big man that can grab and fire from 3 at will and at a high degree of accuracy.

I am just saying you are asking someone who has spent all his money elsewhere to buy the best house on a beach for instance

Those types with a steady above 35% 3 pt shooting PFs are very rare and playing above average D to boot

You are asking for the moon while a veteran PG playmaker who can shoot above 35% from 3 can be had rather easily

The offense for the most part looked helter skelter, like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off. Shows how badly the Rockets need another playmaker when Harden sits. God forbid if Harden gets injured or sits out of any games it's going to be real ugly.

I wish Morey would have picked up more veterans to help the bench. It's good seeing the young guys develop but if you have championship aspirations, you can't rely on a bunch of young guys with little experience to get the job done.

What's up with people automatically assuming Terry is going to play SG or not playing at all?? If Terry still has some burn left, he should be PG off the bench since Daniels is a lock for that back-up SG spot! I don't really care about Ish / Canaan, both are not ready to play. Papa still needs adjustment time and while Garcia's shot is also not falling, his passing and defense is still solid.

I just hope McHale recognises the things Daniels is doing, because he acts like some people on this board, that he's just a shooter.

Didn't Terry play Shooting Guard 15 years out of his 15 seasons?

I think McHale is just challenging Daniels to play defense, and Daniels has been responding.

Basketballholic just don't like Terrence Jones at PF. Up until TJ is traded Mr. Holic will continue to complain about the PF position.

Jones played a solid game on both ends of the court.
