I like Ish but the team looked like crap with him running the point because no one could shoot. He causes lots of spacing problems.
They had open shots.. You kind of prove the point of not needing another shooter. When some shots arent falling, what else can they do? I hope we keep Ish.
That's not how I see it. We have a couple of old guys who will be out of the league soon. We have a group of young players, some of which are guaranteed to make the team, but have yet to make an impact in the NBA. And then we have a collection of fringe NBA players that have bounced around pro ball for a number of years, and are just hoping to find a team to give them a shot. I don't see the Rockets being a championship contender with these players.
Mitchell and Powell are surely gone... Dorsey unfortunately has been out played by a younger kid in Tarik Black. Similar to how Beverly earned his stripes with this team, Tarik is really going hard and playing with tremendous effort. Ish, the most natural PG on this team, just wont make it; a shooting liability as well. Real question...is Garcia really needed on this team anymore? I know Mchale likes the dude, but I just think there are some better options for this teams roster. So far S: Harden, Howard, TJones, Ariza, Beverly B: Daniels, Black, DMo, Adrien, Canaan, Johnson, Terry, Papa Two remaining spots: Garcia, Clint(hard to cut a first round pick)
Dorsey will probably survive. But it is out of him, Black and Adrien for 2 spots, and it feels like those 2 are ahead of him right now. Gone: Powell Covington Mitchell Smith
Dorsey being injured, missing time, and having Black play well during that time didn't help Dorsey's cause. In addition coming back tonight to play all rusty and not being efficient was not good. He is going to have to outplay one of Black and Adrien for remainder of preseason. (barring a trade of someone like capela)
Black's +/- is looking good. Ish had a very bad game this one. Rumor is Ish makes the team but man that didn't help his cause. Smith's shot is so poorly formed nobody bothers to guard him outside of 10ft or so from the basket. Guessing Powell, Cov, Mitchell certainly gone. Dorsey on the bubble with Smith.
Cuts should be: Covington Mitchell Powell Dorsey Ish Ish has played well, but Johnson & Canaan are just better. I like both Adrien & Black. Bev/Canaan/Johnson Harden/Daniels/Terry Ariza/Pap/Garcia Jones/Adrien/Black Howard/Dmo/Capela Capela kind of ruined it for Ish or Dorsey by coming over, although we might keep them, send Johnson & another big to the D-league.
We better not keep Dorsey just because he's guaranteed, it's not like Morey / Leslie gave a rats ass about that before.
They didn't care for Camby or Reggie Williams. Now that we have a slim chance to contend Les isn't afraid to pay a few min contracts.
Flynn's contract was still attractive and worth a few million in case of a deal and Lin did not really shine during pre-season the way Black does over Dorsey.
We need to find a way to trade 2 mediocre players for a solid starter. Jones, cannan, and NO first for David west. Would leave us with ish and Johnson as backup pg. Cannan will not get cut. Morey said before the season he was expecting a big jump from him in his second year. Cappela will not get cut either. Morey would never cut his first round pick. That would be him telling the world yeah i F****d up. The real question is do we cut Adrien or Black. Mitchell/Cov/Powell/smith and Adrien or Black (this cut sucks)
