Disagree. Not necessarily that Bosh would have pushed the Rockets to the top (is arguable, but its not arguable that they would be pretty damn good), But I fail to see how getting or not getting Bosh or a 3rd star affects anything to do with the Bench? Morey was signing that player straight out of free agency. Jones, D-Mo, Canaan, Bev, etc. were still going to be on the roster. Dorsey, Garcia, etc. would have still signed at the vet. min. The only player I could see it impacting is maybe Papanikolaou & I actually think if I'm correct, that the Rockets would have still had access to a mid-level exception they could have eventually used to bring him over. With KD out for the a good portion of the season now, more size to combat matchups with Portland, Memphis, etc., and the potential for San Antonio to finally age a bit, the Rockets would have been in pretty good shape to come out of the West this year. It is what it is, and we are all moving on. It sure seems like Morey is.
In all fairness, the bolded statement above was probably not going to be true. Morey would have likely needed to dump at least a couple of those guys in order to maximize cap room for Bosh. Even after dumping Asik (pre-Ariza S&T) and Lin for no incoming salary, the Rockets were still pretty far from having enough room to sign Bosh to a max deal. There were other trades that Morey was working on to dump salary. We just don't know exactly what those trades were.
Yeah, if I remember correctly Jones and Dmo had to be for sure gone in order to sign Bosh for the max. Covington too and I think even Canaan. We wouldn't have been able to sign Ariza either so we would have been forced to match Parsons contract or else we would be starting Cisco at the three spot after we sign him for the vets. Of course we would still be able to sign Adrien, Garcia Smith, and Dorsey for the vets min. Don't know if we could have retained Daniels since I don't think he signed for the vets min. I think Morey did as best as he could with what was given to him. Also can some of you guys please stop acting like Lowry was guaranteed to come over. Lowry was 'guaranteed' to come over to the Rockets like Melo was 'guaranteed' to leave the Knicks to go to a winning situation. We only know so much information.
Too risky considering his salary. He missed an entire season with a back issue. And he isn't big enough to play backup center like D-Mo.
danilo is a small forward lol. he's not supposed to be playing back up center lmao we're not getting Gallinari anyways. Even though he's probably better than Ariza.
