The tragedy within Lin's game is that if given more than a certain amount of shots, he can't shoot consistently. As a PG, a good 1 at least, you have to be able to shoot with no doubts about it. Nuff said. Wish him well in LA.
The Lakers' big issue is still that they have no rim protection from pretty much any of their bigs. Jordan Hill hustles and rebounds but he doesn't have either the physical length or the instincts to play goalie around the basket. Sacre has the size but not the mobility or instincts. Boozer never offered rim protection even when younger. Randle didn't block shots even in college. Ed Davis has some shot block ability (long arms) but he is a fairly skinny dude and never really was known for rim protection before. They also don't have a very good perimeter stopper, either-- got a couple long athletic guys in Henry and Wes Johnson but they didn't exactly dominate on D so far in their career. But still, rim protection tends to make a bigger defensive difference than oerimeter defenders. They got some scoring and playmaking-- when healthy-- with Kobe, Nash, Lin and Young but I just don't see how they will be good defensively.
In games where he had more than 10 shots last year (31 games). Jeremy shot 180 for 389 which is a .463 clip. He shot .421 when he tool LESS than 10. So no tragedy here my friend.
That's what I see too. A good center would make a world of difference and they don't have anything close . Ed Davis is going to be a good pick up for them - gets blocks , offensive rebounds can score in the paint. Will be a good pnr partner with Lin . But he doesn't have the post presence of an Asik. Their rookie PF Randle looks promising - quick, powerful good ball handler , can score , but he's more a face the basket player like you said. Boozer's looking ok but not great so far. As advertised, not great defensively. Wesley Johnson, their SF, has crazy athleticism but can't seem to put it a all together. I'm curious whether Lin can have a positive impact on him. But so far when I watch him all I do is appreciate what Parsons bought to the table, and what Ariza does now -- On the Lin front , he looks to be adjusting ok. He hasn't played as good as he can or as bad as he can either. ... and he seems to be exceeding expectations so far - which means their (the fans') expectations must have been very low. Lol.
Looking forward to seeing Lin run some offense with Davis and Hill on Thurs. Also, I realized today that Lin is a much better defender than Nash at this point, and will only get better (ie. Kobe's challenge).
I think Lin has a lot of hispanic fans. I don't know why. And that number will probably increase if he plays for a team in CA.
I would think that the fan base is more from the Philippines than hispanic. It was under Spanish rule for a long time, which would explain the latin-sounding names.
Tinman, can you remind everyone again why you have the most posts in this thread? King1 obvious has an disorder and he's only #2, but what's your reason?
Not so sure about the Filipinos. I was in Manila during the playoffs earlier this year. Most folks didn't care about Lin/ Rockets, and those that did certainly weren't LOF's. If anything most of them were fans of the Heat, Lakers and Kobe.
No need to be a smart ass. This is obviously an anecdote, and I'm just relaying what I saw and heard.
