That's true, and a good point often forgotten. Parsons was a big part of our fast break buckets and philosophy. He was leading or always in tandem with Harden to finish the easy buckets. But no question that Ariza can do that and regularly does already. The cool thing about fastbreaks and Ariza is he can play above the rim and is great at finishing an alley oop. Parsons is better at pushing a break cause he's faster and has better handle. But with Parsons, you get fastbreaks by him gambling by ditching on D early VS Ariza creating the fastbreak via steal. Also Ariza can give you fastbreak 3s where he runs with the fastbreak but stops at the 3pt line for the kick out. Parsons would never do that cause why would he.
no doubt that Ariza had impressive playoff run in his contract year. I hope he can do the same every season while he is in Houston.
I would say he exceeded his pay grade in the playoffs. You? Nice attempt at a zinger. Well, not really.
Parsons is going to be a very good player - he is not at his peak. Ariza is at his peak That's the difference.
It's not about whether Ariza is better than Parsons, because he's not, but it's rather who's the better fit for the team as it's constructed, in which case I'd say it's definitely Ariza.
We'll see when the season start if Ariza can keep it up. Some of you are doing the same thing laker fans did to dwight cause you dont like the guy and that is under rating how much Parsons did for this tean.
Dwight is a much more impactful player than Parsons. Those two names shouldn't even be brought up together. Parsons has been overrated for a while now. He is a solid starter and nothing more. I'd say the same thing if he was still with the Rockets.
defense and experience with being a great role player for a championship team with a ball dominant shooting guard and a post up big man. mainly just defense, especially with Harden on the court. Parsons has slightly better handles that makes him a better driver at the rim and on fast breaks, but not by a lot.
Agreed. Ariza is the much better fit. I had hoped that parsons would rediscover his defense but he kept on focussing on offense...
Some of you guys are still over rating Parsons even though he is no longer a Rocket, he is not that good. He will never be an all-star. Dallas over paid for him and Dirk will not play forever, they will regret this move.
he can't. to be truely special in the nba you have to have some amazing elite physical traits. Parsons does not. He's close to what he will be, and Morey saw that.
That is why Morey offered him a 2 year max deal? Who was offering Ariza a max deal? Ariza might a better value, but I don't think any GMs saw him as a better player otherwise he would have been paid more.
ariza doesn't sell corporate box seats  but seriously, last season 2 different business colleagues who never previously followed the rockets mentioned to me how much they love the parsons guy. one of them even remarked how "he's good for the game" lol
