I don't think anyone would take on Ish in a trade.

What you mean is Canaan is all offense, and we don't need anymore offense.
I think Ish+Terry will offset the loss of Lin.

No, he's all 3-pointers. He's not a great passer with good court vision and he can't finish at the rim in the NBA like bigger guards.

Hitting the 3 is the only thing he excels at.

If the Rockets choose to keep Canaan then cool. If the Rockets choose to trade Canaan for a future 2nd then that would be also cool. I dont think Canaan is anything special to be honest.

I wonder if the team will trade away both DMo and Jones for whatever draft pick considerations they can get after Jeff Adrien and Tarik Black beat them off for the big man jobs.

Honestly the reason this won't happen isn't because we need Dmo or Jones, it's more because they wouldn't get us much in return.

If a mid tier team would offer us their first and a larger expiring, I could see Morey taking it.

Aldridge, Griffin, Ibaka, Duncan, Dirk, Randolph. Whether its jones dmo or adrien starting for us, we're going to get schooled at the 4 spot. We need to upgrade the 4 spot to become contenders.
Gibson (because Chicago has enough PFs) and West (if Indiana tanks it) are our only outside shot of upgrading this year.

Agree. Why on earth would they? Every GM in the league would know that if we don't have room for him, we'll have to let him go, and that's why we would release him, if we do. It's still early days. We need to get a clearer picture of what our young players can do. Canaan might "blow up" in the next game, while Ish has a bad outing. Then we'd see numerous posts talking about how much better Canaan is than Ish.

Besides, Morey might make a move before the actual season starts that clears things up considerably.

Canaan's not going to be let go unfortunately, I'm sure they like him even if we don't.

but if there are multiple teams interested in him after we release Ish, then there's the risk for them to not get him, whereas in a trade they can pay a liitle to avoid the risk.

I don't know if we're that bad off. We used to stop Dirk with Ryan Bowen or Chuck Hayes. Adrien and Black might give us good help. TJ did good on Randolph.

You really have to look at the whole front court too. We have Ariza, PF, Dwight Howard. vs those other frontcourts, I don't think we'll get schooled.

I've never seen a min player he traded for another min player or draft pick. unless its some proven veteran

I hear you but in a playoff series we absolutely would get schooled. In the games vs OKC Ibaka always plays big against us. Well the best example is Aldridge. We not only lack consistency or skill a that position, all our guys lack experience too.

I'm actually shocked Morey never went after a veteran power forward the past two years.

All free agent acquisitions can't be traded until Dec or Jan depending on when they signed.

I'd argue vs the thunder, Harden wtfpwned Ibaka when McHale made that genius switch. DMo guarded LMA well throughout the season, dunno why we went away from that.

We will be fine no matter what happens, going to be a very good year.

He is only good at one specific aspect of offense... and that's hitting a spot-up 3.

The only thing he is good at comes on the offensive end, but I wouldn't say he's "all offense" as if he's a good offensive player.

I'd argue that Ish Smith is a better offensive player even though he doesn't score much himself.
