The Texans are so incompetent. They thought they knew better than everyone else. Could have had Teddy B or Johnny Football in addition to Clowney and instead opt to go with Fitzpatrick.
If our draft picks were actually good, then I would have agreed with the decision they took. Unfortunately, XSF is completely outmatched right now and none of our other picks are really much to write home about, except maybe Blue.
Fitzpatrick has 6 TD's to 6 INT's in 6 games. He's ranked in the top 8 in interceptions thrown and he has the least amount of throws than those other quarterbacks ranked in the top 8 in interceptions (which shows his inefficiency). He's tied for #17 in TD passes (maybe even lower after the other quarterbacks play on Sunday), and he's also ranked #26 in total QBR... And how many good defenses has Fitzpatrick actually faced in those 6 games, and do defenses gear up to stop him or Foster....??? Taking all of that under consideration _ Fitzpatrick's YPA doesn't mean 5h1t. If your point is that Fitzpatrick isn't one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the league _ you're trippin. The Texans could be 3-3 right now with practically any other starting QB that you think he's better than.
We'd have maybe 1 win if your boy Bortles was the QB...lol. Nice call on that one. And weird statement...the Patriots would have their same record with basically any other QB. The Lions would have that same record with basically any other QB. Silly argument is silly.
The Jags have a worst offensive line than the Texans (according to pro focus) _ no running game _ two rookie receivers and Blake's 1st action has been against Indy, San Diego, and Pittsburgh and he's had to throw a lot... And if you watch the all 22 instead of just the box score _ he's not the problem. But you keep reaching deep and pulling excuses out your azz for Fitzpatrick and knock a rookie. I don't see your point about New England and Detroit when they've beating better teams... J.J. and Foster won those games. Fitzpatrick even tried to give the game away to Buffalo. But you go ahead and keep calling people a r****ded because they're not on the Fitzpatrick bandwagon like you are... YPA... Lmao...
YPA is arguably the single most important statistic to judge a QB. By denying that, you're essentially saying you're clueless. And yes, I can bring Bortles into the mix, I didnt realize we need to establish qualifiers for a debate over starting NFL QBs. And Im not on the Fitz bandwagon. Im saying he's not an average back up QB. There are currently 6-8 NFL starters that are playing worse than him...and a handful that have played equal to him.
The Colts got Peyton, dominate the division and ride him to the playoffs and a SB trophy. Peyton FINALLY gets gone from Indy and they crash & burn, get the No. 1 pick and there is Andrew Luck just sitting there ready to pick up where Peyton left off. Rat Fart!!! The Texans with Schaub crash & burn, get the No. 1 pick and there is nobody on Luck's level there for the taking. So now we are stuck with a warm body at QB while kicking the QB can down the road for next year AGAIN where all signs point to our missing out on the top QB prospects again. The universe is just not fair. Life is hard and then you die.
Remii he didn't get beat out by a rookie. You know as well as I know Bill and the Patriots don't believe in paying their players. The only players to get fat contracts from them is Tom and Vince. They weren't going to pay Mallet when they can pay a rookie to back up Tom for cheap.
Russell was just giving the reigns to the carriage... Last year his job was to make simple plays and not do anything stupid to lose the game.. the hawks game plan was to reply on their run game and their defense... (See a theme here with the team we are talking about) The Texans need a qb who can do the simple things and not stupid things... Take what the defense gives you... As H-town stated.. Hit your hot spots, they may not get you the glamorous plays, but they get the job done by moving the chains and giving your defense time to rest... T_Man
I would like to see a QB change but I just don't see it happening. Unless Fitzpatrick gets hurt or he have another major Fitztragic type game ( via Giants game).
there was an elite qb, but most refused to see it. his name is teddy bridgewater. it still hurts that we could have had both clowney & teddy at minimal cost. this will haunt us for a decade.
Fitzpatrick has only averaged 8 or over YPA in 3 games this year out of 6 and the Texans lost 2 of those games. One was against Washington and every body throws on them. He averaged over 8 YPA against the Giants (when he threw 3 picks)... And he averaged over 8 against Indy (tripped and fell on his face before crossing the finish line as usual). And all 3 of those teams defenses give up over 8 YPA on average so again, that box score watching stat you bring up for him doesn't mean 5h1t... It could easily be argued that YPA is not the most important stat for a quarterback especially when Fitzpatrick's YPA is higher than Luck, Rodgers, and Russell... Heck, Andy Dalton is #2 in YPA... Kirk Cousins, Matt Ryan, Matthew Stafford, Austin Davis are all in the top 10 as well along with Fitzpatrick. It's hard to single out one individual stat but completion percentage is brought up very often... More so than YPA. And Rivers, Russell, Big Ben, Romo, Brees, Cutler, Rodgers, and P. Manning fall in the top 10 in that category. That's a more distinguished top 10 than the YPA... Blake Bortles is ranked #8 in that category and he's playing behind an offensive line that allowed 10 sacks in one game (with no running game and 2 rookie receivers) and throwing a ton under constant pressure. Also passing yards, TD to interception ratio, TD - INT percentage, and completion percentage are considered more important evaluation than YPA... But there are pros and cons to every stat especially when just trying to find a stat to support your argument. He's an above average backup quarterback but a backup he is... But if the Texans play enough teams this year were they can win and don't need him (like against Washington and Oakland) and or win despite of him (like against Buffalo) _ they'll win more games... And you trying to argue the difference between the 1st worst quarterback and the 6th worst quarterback is silly... Especially when Fitzpatrick has the weapons at his disposal that many quarterbacks don't have... How many of them have an all world RB and WR, and a 2nd year WR on the rise...??? This team would be 3-3 with Geno Smith, the kid in Tampa Bay, Mark Sanchez, and probably every rookie quarterback that was drafted except for Tom Savage... Lolzzzz.
Green Bay had a dominant defense when they won the super bowl (Pittsburgh and Green Bay had the best defenses in the league that year) and Rodgers had a laundry list of very good receivers that year (that receiving core suckered Seattle into thinking Matt Flynn was good when he threw for over 500 yards when he started for Rodgers). Don't forget Brett Favre called that team the best he's ever had before he left. Now that the defense isn't great and Rodgers doesn't have as many receivers as he use to _ they get to the playoffs and get kicked out... I think it's funny how Texans fans try to devalue Russell when Seattle came to Houston and the Texans where winning 20-3 at halftime. I guess Russell did nothing that game.
I really liked Teddy as wel but was concerned about durability issues due to his smallish stature plus his lack of accuracy with the long ball. But he had EVERYTHING else you'd want in a franchise QB. But BoB didn't agree with us soooo...
I would normally agree with you on that Baller _ but Tom Brady isn't playing up to his contract right now and he hasn't been Tom Terrific the past two years and he only threw 1 TD in two playoff games last year. I think the Patriots let Mallet go because Jimmy is straight up better. But I think the Texans will ride with Fitzpatrick until the wheels fall off.
Understand but but show me where Bill and the Patriots pay roll players. How many QB'S they let go in the past 10 seasons. Shoots Randy Moss had a record breaking season and Bill still didn't give him another contract. Mr. Consistent Wes Welker couldn't get a raise from them. Richard Seymore couldn't either. So again why would they pay a dude that hasn't done anything in three season.
LOL!!! Man you need to come down and chill... Russell was giving one task the last couple years... Don't try to be the hero, just keep the train on the track... Basically as I keep stating don't try to do too much and lose the game... That is the same mentality that fritz needs to have this point.. No one has stated that Russell was not an exceptionally talented QB, but he had to get the experience and confidence first before they decided to put more on his shoulders.. The hawks rode their defense and the beast all the way to the championship.. Fritz and the Texans need to do the same... Ride your defense and your running game as long and as far as you can.. Fritz needs to make the simple plays and not try to force anything and the coaching staff needs to rely on the running game.. Fritz is not a Rodgers, Farv or even a Russell.. So he and the coaching staff should go with the K.I.S.S method.. Keep It Simple Stupid.. T_Man
