YPA is one of the strongest indicators of a QBs success...it always has been and always will be. YPG, on the other hand, is probably the most meaningless, because it's based on many additional factors. If we are doing YPG, then Russell Wilson sucks, but if you do YPA, then you get a true indicator of how he's playing.

You mention that his 86 rating is 22nd...but his YPA is 6th and his completion percentage is 14th. Combine those numbers and he's a mediocre QB. As remii pointed out, our OLine is ranked 20+ in the NFL based on profootball focus...so to think that he's had a below average line yet put up average numbers, then how does one conclude "2nd worst starter in the NFL"...that's just asinine.

Again, not one person has ever said Fitz is a good QB. He's had good games and terrible games. But, he's about as mediocre as it gets. I dont know why people want to compare him to the elite QBs in the NFL. He's nothing more than a stop gap...but at the same time, he's far and away better than anything else we have. Now, when our playoff chances are reduced to zero, then I want Savage to be the one taking the snaps, not Mallet.

QB's worse than Fitz...in no particular order

    Geno Smith
    Blake Bortles
    Matt Cassel
    Derek Carr
    Jake Locker
    EJ Manuel
    Chad Henne
    Ryan Tannehill
    Mike Glennon

Quick test, which one is Ryan Fitzpatrick, which is Tom Brady

65% completion percentage 1268 yards 86.1 QB rating

60.5% completion percentage 1083 yards 85.5 QB rating

Sure Fitz isn't great, or even good, but the over-exaggeration on here is getting old.

You referred to Texans fans being stupid - only one person made the 2nd-worst claim, so I assumed you were posting in response to the others that says he's a bad QB and trying to argue that that Fitz is a decent/good QB by pointing out his efficiency stats. My bad.

Yes, there have been a decent amount of QBs having worse seasons than Fitz. Im not talking about careers...Im talking about this season, 6 games into it.

    I'll name one...Tom Brady.

    1) I don't "bad mouth" either QB, but don't start telling the truth now.

2)Again, not relevant to the line not doing their job.

    1) literal sense of 'bad mouth' - you are right. you simply do not have a high level of respect for them, especially Wilson.

    2) Again, anybody who says that does not understand the purpose of a hot route. Unfortunately the line can not throw to the hot target.

    At least you hope....

I don't think Mallett or Fritz are the answer for the Texans....

They need a QB with a Russell Wilson mentality... His job last was not to win the game and not do anything stupid to lose it...

Well that makes him a d@mn backup... And he was drafted to be a backup and he was a backup when we got him. And how many quarterbacks who are worst than him have receivers like AJ and Nuk to throw to...??? When you have receivers like that and opposing defenses have to keep 8 in the box because of Foster and the QB still can't be trusted to throw the ball at a high volume _ that just may mean we have one of the worst QB's in the league. Or O'Brien is just hype and McNair and Smith went way to Penn State when they probably should have went right down the road to college station in a brinks truck.

You're the one that said Fitz is the 2nd worst starting QB in the NFL.

And currently, he is absolutely not. I can keep going from Brady, but that was the best starting point.

Yup, my parents definitely did a number on me...I have a doctorate degree, so I guess they did something right.

    Player 1: 65% completion, 7.93 YPA, 86.1 rating

    Player 2: 63% completion, 7.86 YPA, 89.3 rating

    One has Andre and Nuk...

The other has Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate, and Reggie Bush.

And their numbers are about as even as it gets. Matthew Stafford, back up QB.

But, before I hear..."but, but, but Calvin has been hobbled for a couple weeks"...Stafford has put up better numbers during that span.

What you're failing to comprehend is that Im not saying Fitz is on par with Stafford.

Im saying, through 6 games, he has not played any worse than players like Stafford or Brady. That is an absolute fact. If it's not, please explain how those other guys have outplayed Fitz.

For the amount of crap Fitz gets, 95% of it is unwarranted.

But, please, explain to me how Stafford has had a better year than Fitz. The floor is yours.

EDIT: Since Remii brought this up, I will too...going into week 6, the Texans had the 20th rated OLine and the Lions had the 18th (Per PFF).

When the game is on the line _ Russell can make a play... Just like he was making plays when Seattle came to Houston.

Russell is every bit as good as Rodgers and dudes like that aren't easy to find....

Personally I think Matthew Stafford is garbage too so I don't see what point you're trying to make...

Have you missed this entire conversation that started with HTown's fine comments? It's fine if you dont want to associate with what he says about Fitz, but if you're going to run to his aid, dont just act like you dont know what point Im trying to make when I make a good one.
