    Mallet's only gonna play if:
    1. Fitz gets hurt/injured
    2. Season's out of reach.

I brought up Russell because you and Bobby talk about him like he's trash.... Now you realize how great he is because he operated behind a line like Fitzpatrick with worst receivers... But you guys keep making excuses for Fitzpatrick (and O'Brien) and keep thinking that a defense with one superstar player and a bunch of average and below guys can hold a quarterback like Luck to 14 points a game....

We just got to hope that Foster stays healthy because without him.... Smh...

    The one thing I hope:

If they go to Ryan Mallett, they do it with enough time left in the season so that he can get a solid body of work. My greatest fear is that he ends up playing the last two games of the season, plays out of his mind, and turns that into a big money contract, at which point he promptly returns to being a turd and drags the team down like a boat anchor for the next few seasons.

See, this is where Texans fans become completely stupid. **** like this is so ****ing r****ded.

Yeah, a guy with a YPA of almost 8, a QB rating of 86, and a completion percentage of 65...while working with one of the worst OLines in the NFL...

"2nd worst starting QB in the NFL"
    "Average back up QB"

My Concern as well . .. . If we go 10-6 and never see him
    Goto the playoffs etc . . .. . .

What then? Resign him? What about Savage?

If Fitz can take this team to 10 wins with that OLine...imagine what we could do with a good OLine.

JK...we still take a QB in the first.

Not too long ago I would get REALLY mad about the derp nature of the takes of some Texans fans, but recently I watched "The Room" which greatly increased my tolerance for stupidity.

I would rather see Savage as well. But starting Mallet may end up just a waste of time. I have no concerns at all that he will burn it up if he gets some playing time....

    You're worried for nothing.

only derp going on is Houston being dumb enough to start Ryan Fitzpatrick.

he's an average back up at best.

None of that means nothing when he can't make a play on a crucial 3rd in 2 like last Sunday against Dallas or when he fumbled the ball on 1st in 10 in a crucial series like last night.... Fitzpatrick is a F-up and that's what he's always been.... More times than not when games have been on the line and it was on him to make a play _ he blew it. Those "box score watching" numbers you throw around is a reason Buffalo was suckered into giving him a $100 million dollar contract and now you're being suckered as well...

You have the F'n nerve to call people "r****ded" because they don't see Fitzpatrick in the same light as you. Yea those #'s look good in the box score but he's only averaging around 26 pass attempts a game and in the 2 games he threw over 30 times he has 2 TD's to 5 picks.... But you overlook that and only pay attention to the numbers that support your argument.

And as of 2 days ago pro football focus had the Texans offensive line ranked #20.... So that's not one of the worst so you're wrong about that too...

    HTown... I'm right with you...

I'm not saying the OL is in the top 10, but their not the worst...

Fritz is just bad... If the OL was as bad as some of you think, then Foster would not be running crazy as he has...

There is a difference between pass blocking and run blocking. You can be good at one and terrible at the other.

that goes both ways as Fitzpatrick is horrible at blitz recognition.

he's usually unaware that teams are bringing the heat. just look at his neglect of the TE's and slot WR (who are usually hot when teams blitz).

He's also 25th in YPG. That's not to say any of the backups are better or that there should be a QB change. But QB's who aren't asked to do much are generally going to be more efficient - that doesn't mean he's any good. The flipside is a guy like Luck who is asked to do everything for their team - that kind of player will have lower efficiency numbers simply due to the high volume. Teams playing the Texans gameplan around stopping Foster; teams facing a Manning or Rodgers or Luck gameplan around stopping the QB.

(on a sidenote - the QB rating of 86 puts him at 22nd in the league, so he's not terribly efficient even with the low volume of work. Caveat - it's very early and a lot of QBs will move up and down dramatically on those charts over the course of the season)

    1. You don't have the best track record with QB evaluation.

    2. Even if that were true, it's not in the least relevant to the O line not doing their job at all when it comes to pass blocking.

Did I say Fitz is good? Ive never said he's a good QB...Im saying its r****ded to say that he's the 2nd worst QB in the NFL...or that he's an average back up. Those are dumb statements to make because theyre just not true.

There are plenty of QBs that are worse than him. You talk as if you're comparing him to Rodgers or Manning.

    1) Coming from the guy who bad mouths Luck and Wilson....

    2) Sounds like you do not know what a hot route is.
