I understand. My buddies got a suite at The Venetian, however my friend and I are late additions, so we have to get our own room. Am debating between circus circus or Westgate (formerly LVH) which are both under $100/night but both seem sketchy. I want to pull the trigger on Westgate, but tripadvisor pics got me scared for my health. I imagine that I'll only be spending 2-6 hours at the Westgate sleeping, and the rest of the time will be casino, or in the suite at The Venetian, I jsut need a cheap place to crash, ya know?

Does anyone have any good connections for tables? I'm looking for one November 8th for a group of 10-12 (guys and girls).

Westgate is just old in the unimproved rooms. It's not bad if you have a car.

if you want to go less than a $100, go for MGM, NY NY ..that way you still on the strip..or you could do tropicana.

This thread made me look into a short three day trip in February. Is the Mandarin Oriental worth staying at?

that's a nice hotel. is close to the strip, but no casino lobby. I just thought it had a "non Vegas feel". It's more of an elegant hotel.

I stayed at this Cosmo 1BR suite with huge balcony that I really enjoyed last time I went. The room was legit. It had more of a modern feel.

If you want just a quiet hotel off the strip, then I would probably stay at 4 seasons. its near Mandalay Bar and its a true 5 star hotel.

I can't praise The Cosmo enough. I stayed in a Terrace Studio last year and it was by far the best experience I've had in Vegas. I walked through Mandarin Oriental and it just didn't feel like it fit in with such a different vibe/target demographic.

Oriental is a rug. Please don't use that word. Some people might find it offensive.

LOL. you should see how much they charge for drinks there, that's offensive too!

Actually stayed at the Mandarin overseas once, their staff was amazing

Just curious...what is the point in going to Vegas anymore? You can gamble almost anywhere and there are hip nightclubs everywhere. Seems like an expensive way to do something you could do much more cheaply locally.

Cheap three day getaway. NYC was my new Vegas for a few years, but unfortunately the apartment I stayed at is under renovations for about a year. I don't gamble so its pretty much going to enjoy the food, weather (during winter), and a few shows.

I'll be in Houston next weekend. Please let me know where to go legally so I can play Craps, Black Jack and Poker machines and enjoy free drinks while I do so.

I'll be in San Jose in December and Dallas in November. Please provide the same information for those cities.

    Thanks

I understand your point...but if there wasn't already a need to be in Vegas, why go the extra effort to get there. Along that logic...each of those cities mentioned has a way to gamble that's no less than a few hours drive away...which is generally shorter and cheaper than a flight to Vegas.

Sorry...not trying to pick a fight...just playing a bit of devil's advocate...trying to see what the motivation to go above and beyond is. :)

Most of the clubs elsewhere don't compare to vegas nor draw the crowd vegas does. Except maybe Miami.

Excellent point. I could only muster memory of my clubbing in the past (way too long ago), which wouldn't make for a very good comparison to today's club environments.

yeah the atmosphere/experience in vegas is something that can't be duplicated locally here. after coming back from a trip in vegas, i don't even think about going out in houston for a long time haha
