Yes, our window (with Dwight like THIS) opens after the next move.

Why would the Rockets trade a player that has more value to THEM & is a better fit for THEM than most if not all other teams in the NBA? I absolutely hate when fans & the media try to say X player is worth Y asset. You can't just generalize value like that. Its 110% buyer related. Ask the question related to what is the value of X player to Y team, and then I can give you a much much better answer.

The fact that the value to the Rockets is higher than most if not all other NBA teams means that it would be a negative value transaction which should NEVER be the case in terms of trading that player for an asset. The fact is the Rockets would be in a worse position both from an asset standpoint and an on-the-court standpoint.

As for his value outside of Houston.... Fact is he will be a free agent next Summer, the PG spot & most backup PG spots are locked up at almost every NBA stop, and the best value that Bev can provide is going to come from terms such as "character", "chemistry", "aggressive", etc. Believe me that has value around the league, but not if that player isn't a key cog in your rotation & not if that player isn't considered to be a long term building block. (and we didn't even factor in potential question marks about his knee issues).

My opinion: If its a first round pick he's worth to a select team out there with a selective need, I don't think its a very valuable one, and that's to the PERFECT buyer where he is a PERFECT fit. Not something that's going to be easy to find.

The question I would counter back is... what is Beverley's asset returned in the transaction going to get you if flipped that you couldn't have already got with the assets currently at your disposal?? The answer to that question you guys aren't going to like. It doesn't get the Rockets any close to getting a star player & it significantly hurts their on the court performance, chemistry, and team dynamic. Trading Patrick Beverley for his ASSUMED value outside of the Rockets would be a very, very.... how do I say this.... Stupid move.

Why do I feel like this question and this very same thread has been created about 30 different times for about 30 different Rockets players over the past 4 years? Hmmm...

If you're looking for a first, well they could have kept Lin, biting the bullet one final year, while also keeping their own first round pick. ;)

But really, a first round pick for a backup point guard? I'm not sure.

Of all the point guards still in the league, off some quick research, the only ones who went for a first(not including draft night) were Chris Paul, Steve Nash, Deron Williams, Jrue Holiday, and Kyle Lowry

Bev is headed into restricted free agency. I could make a strong case that he's one of the top ten perimeter players in 2015 free agency. You have to consider do you really want to pay him$35-40 million over the next 4 seasons? Because he will likely get that kind of offer in free agency next summer.

.. Is Bev a player of Lowry's caliber? NO. Do not overhype Bev.

I personally don't think so. Omer was worth a 1st round pick because he's an elite defender and an elite rebounder. There aren't many rim protectors in the league as good as him.

PBev, as much as I like him, isn't worth as much as Omer. He's an outstanding perimeter defender. He plays his heart out, but he can't create for others and isn't a good 3 point shooter.

Almost all teams already have better PGs anyways. I think we have the worst PG rotation in the league, outside of maybe DAL, Lakers, SAC, etc... you get the point.

Sure why not, he's a good defender who's always in the right positions to make a play. McHale should put both Harden and Beverley on a court together. 1 vs 1 until either Harden starts picking up Beverley's instincts or until Beverley grows a better beard than Harden. Who wants to start this petition with me!
