It sucks that the season is ending. Not a fan of the huge time jump. We missed so much. Still good but I wish they had more time to draw out their storylines.
Thought it was a solid start but unless you are familiar with the history of some of the characters, you might be a little lost as to what happened to certain characters in the time jump.
this show is good at telling it's story, i like the composition of every scene they make me feel like i'm there, sad it's coming to an end and it's only 8 episodes
it's been a good season so far, this last episode was great, i think the characters for the flashbacks were cast extremely well
indeed, chico. young Nucky looked like steve buscemi in 'Fargo' but I wished the flashbacks were used for the 7 year span that elapsed. I mean I loved watching rothstein's mannerisms and thought he was a huge part of the show, so for them to just bypass his ending seemed strange to me.
I dont want it to end.....The guy playing young adult Nucky has huge fake teeth ha. It is a little distracting but doing a good job.
Amazing season so far, love how they're wrapping it up and providing so much more depth to some of the characters. Feel like this is a model that more tv series should follow. Agree that just leaving out Rothstein is weird, maybe the actor dropped out after last season?
Rothstein was shot and killed in 1928 due to refusing to pay a gambling debt. Once the Boardwalk creators were given only eight episodes to finish and decided to start the final season in 1931 they knew that they'd have to sacrifice certain events and characters (Rothstein and his death, Bugs Moran, St. Valentine's Day Massacre, Atlantic City Conference, more J. Edgar Hoover, et cetera). I wish they would have gotten one season extra or at least a full twelve episodes for the final season. But I'm still relatively satisfied with what we've gotten and am very much looking forward to the last two episodes.
Two of my favourite characters died today, noo. BTW, that 20 something yr old Eli they got for that one sequence on the beach with Nucky was on point, 100% like the real actor.
There have been conflicting reports. Most had said that HBO thought it was too expensive just like with Rome, etc. But recently Terrence Winter acted like he wanted to wrap it up in just eight episodes and end on a high note. He said he didn't have much more story to tell. Who knows? I'm guessing it was more HBO because they've done this before a few times due to costs.
