My dad had me work the shovel on a cloudy breezy day. I was out 2 hours later. I said I'm finishing high school. He is a maintenance guy for them oil pipes. My younger brother managed to hang in there and is now an operator.
in 96 or 97, i did a telemarketing racket in the shopping center where the Back Room was, off Riverside in East Austin. it was such a scam. we were calling people in Oklahoma "on behalf of" the OK Fraternal Order of Police. the greasy boiler room suit would tell people to try and sound "more Oklahoma" as he would hover over us trying to get us to close deals on elderly people. I took my headphones and walked out about two hours in, and got paid for the whole day because with all the turnover, they didn't realized I had left.
My friend and I once got a job at a small tutoring center together. Our boss was this crazy Asian lady who had immigrated from China and spoke very poor English. She also had a huge temper. On our first day, we were both waiting in the office when she came in and started giving directions. We literally could not understand a word she said, and when we asked for clarification, she just shouted "No time! Figure out!" She then walked out of the room and slammed the door behind her. My friend and I just looked at each other and started cracking up because we had no idea what to do. We asked some of the tutors if they had any clue of what she wanted and they just shrugged and wished us good luck. We eventually decided to go find her, but she had apparently left to go buy supplies. We settled on just organizing the office as best as we could, since it was a mess. It was not what she wanted. When she came back, she freaked out and started yelling at us. She was really, really angry and was getting incredibly loud. It was horrifying, yet also hilarious cause we couldn't quite understand her. At some point in the verbal assault, my friend and I dared to look at each other, and we both burst out laughing. It was the worst possible thing we could have done, and it got even worse because we couldn't stop ourselves. We were both fired on the spot.
The crappiest job I've had that I stayed at for at least a year was at a popular gas station that people love for some reason. I'm not gonna say the name because they are lawsuit-happy. It's a bad place to work in general, but it didn't help that the manager and assistant manager hated me. What they didn't know was that I was banging the bookkeeper to whom they would confide their hatred. "I just want to rip off his f***ing arm and beat him over the head with it" was one comment that I remember. They had said they wanted to make my shifts so miserable that I would just quit. I found this out and one of the reasons I stayed as long as I did was to spite them. Eventually they found out we were together, and then would constantly tell her that while she wasn't working I was hitting on every female that came in the store. Every crappy task (like, "Someone **** all over the walls. Haymitch, take this small rag and clean it up.") was given to me. My last day there was one of the happiest days of my life. It wasn't all bad while I was there, but the bad was really bad.
I was a toll booth operator in a very sleepy corner of England many years ago. I was a teenager, and I needed the money. I can't think of a more mind-numbing experience. I'd stare at a desolate road hoping for a car to cross the bridge. One time, an old man in a cherry red MG convertible pulled up with a gorgeous women decades younger than him. As they drove off, I knew I needed a new job lol.
The worst job I had in my life was making biscuits at McDonalds. I had to get up at 4:30 AM for this crap minimum-wage job. My first job was at Popeyes and it was fun, so I know I wasn't down on just fast food jobs. I know that There are far worse jobs in this thread, I suppose I have a different standard. The worst working conditions I ever experienced were working in prisons as a network tech, walking through general population unescorted. I had to act like it didn't bother me, but I was always nervous. Dirty as hell, too- I would get a norovirus every four months like clockwork. Some of the areas I would have to go were prison cells (unoccupied at the time) that gave me serious anxiety, like there was some bad karma stuck in there. I was glad to get out.
Calling school districts and schools around the nation trying to sell a Spanish learning system for ELS programs and Spanish classes. Cold calling is rough.
Two different jobs. One: Roofing - In Houston - IN THE SUMMER That is pure hell right there. Any of you who have ever done that, you know what I am talking about. Two: Process Server Yeah, the guy who knocks on peoples doors to deliver them the bad news that they are being sued, or that they have been summoned to be a witness in a trial, stuff like that. It's actually fairly close to what Seth Rogen had to do in Pineapple Express.

Toss up between basic training in the Army and when I worked at Pappasito's as a busser/dishwasher. If I didn't dislocate my knee halfway through basic and have to cover it up as if it didn't happen, it would be my time as a busser/dishwasher with Papasito's all the way.
Mine was deep in Katy My uncles laid carpet so . . . ..It was my summer job from like 8-14 Rocket River
WTF? Why? Honestly . . .to me that is justifiable homicide to kill someone to do that type of isht. Rocket River
I worked at Smoothie King. I just worked there to get an understanding of the business because I wanted to open one..doing some research. Once the owner found that out, he fired me. ha ha It was like working in Subway except of the applicable discounts to supplements.
