The spiritual successor to Alpha Centauri, the game looks good in terms of continuing Alpha's core premise along with merging the advancements seen in CIV V. Has anyone else looked into this? The biggest changes I've seen:

    • More flexibility in Civilization creation, from sponsor, cargo, spacecraft, etc

    • Tech Web from Alpha, seems more expanded and has better synergy with the player's choice in virtues and affinities

    • Quests or story elements designed for the player and their actions, reminiscent of CIV IV's random events.

    • Unit's change based upon your choices in affinities and upgrades, rather than outdated and upgraded by technologies.

    • Loss of features from previous CIV's: golden ages, great people, religion, luxuries and natural wonders. These kind of worry me since CIV V lacked many of the great features in CIV IV at the start.

Overall, I think the game is more of a true sequel than a heavily modded or expansion pack of CIV V, but I question if it's game play would be as great as IV's at start or we have to wait until expansions like V. Any thoughts on it?

Trailer for anyone who missed it:

Should have sold this as DLC/expansion pack.

Looks cool, but not enough core gameplay mechanics were changed to justify $60, and they aren't charging that thankfully.
This game would do better at $40 than the $50 is costs now.

I semi agree, I personally loved CIV 4 as my favorite, but I feel the hybrid mix ups with the units and also the personal choices of the build benefits as well as the virtue synergies give it more flavor.

    Will do, thanks.

The last civilization I played was fun, but not great, and felt cartooney. I'd like a realistic simulation, and hope this hits.

I'll probably buy it just because it's another Civ. lol.
