Receivers dropped 15 passes. Even still, Kenny completed 60%. It is difficult to do when receivers drop 25% of the passes you throw. Can't blame the QB for 15 drops.

He definitely had some bad drops from his receivers, but the 3 picks were really some back-breakers for A&M. It was just all-around a bad performance from the A&M offense. Mississippi State is no joke this year.

Texas A&M will never be elite if they can't play defense. You can't even get into the playoffs with no defense, and you can forget about winning a national championship. Relying solely on Kenny Hill and the WRs is going to fail when the offense sputters.

Wow .. maybe we should tell this to Coach Sumlin .. The defensive talent was very bare these past few seasons and is extremely young ... As much as I hate to say it, the defense is much better than I expected going into this season .. Another year or two and they will be good enough.

A HUNH offensive team is never going to have top 10 statistical defense just because the D has to defend so many drives, but an average D with a great O is a great combo if we can ever get there.

We got whooped today, but I dont know too many teams that can survive 15 dropped passes

Youngest team in the SEC. The defense is improved, but lacks depth (especially at LB). The best player on defense is a true freshman. Looking at the commit list, the depth will be much better next year.

Sumlin's teams have never had good defense. Will talent change that? I don't think it's a guarantee.

The excuses for Sumlin's defenses just keep coming.

Sumlin's defenses are always in the wrong spot, have poor technique, and the scheme clearly doesn't work because his defenses consistently give up huge points.

The talent may not be great, but that's not the biggest problem. There's plenty of other teams with similar talent but much better results, and it's because they develop the players better.

How was what you quoted an excuse?

Fact is, Sumlin's offense is supposed to be fast paced. That means that their possessions don't usually take a long time, meaning that most games they will be on the wrong end of the time of possession. When the offense is working, the opponent will have to abandon the run and pass most of the time. When the offense isn't working, the opponent will be running the ball and pounding at the defense. Either way, the opponent's offense will usually have a lot of time and a lot of plays. So, statistically speaking, no Sumlin will probably never have a top 20 or 30 defense unless they are just ridiculously talented.

Lol My point was that Sumlin's defenses are always have poor fundamentals and coaching.

That is why most offensively minded head coaches hire a good DC. If Snyder can't right the ship, then Sumlin needs to hire another DC.

Agreed. I think it's pretty obvious Snyder needs to go.

If Florida fires Muschamp, I would like to see A&M go after him as a DC.

You are right, but at the same time, you weren't very clear.

Muschamp is overrated on defense, and I really wasn't impressed with what he did at UT.

    ^^^This.

Also, send the strength coach with him. That D-line is getting pushed around like a junior high team. I know they are young, but its no excuse....

Muschamp hates Texas A&M. I'd be all for it though.

Stats aside, Kenny Hill was inaccurate, needs to step up into the pocket, not out of it, and needs to make passing decisions inside the pocket, not out of it.

No doubt about that. But nobody expected the defense to ready this year. The talent is there and coming in, but they're way too young in this conference. MSST & Ole Miss are showing what can happen over time with good recruits on defense.

It's funny we're "relying" on Kenny Hill, the guy playing the position everyone was so blindly worried about coming into the season.

We're young on both sides of the ball. If the o-line can continue to perform for the next 2 years TAMU should be a top 5 team for the next 2 years. There's young talent all over the field and even a ton of it in HS.

I think TAMU beats Ole Miss. I don't see them hanging enough points on us and we've just had to deal with MSST & Arkansas' rush offense. We're as prepped to hinder the run as we'll ever be. The division is insanity this year, I love it. I would not trade places with Baylor right now (path to playoffs-wise), I love these games - I've never been happier as a CFB fan -- but ask me again in 6 weeks.

My site has TAMU favored -2. Sounds right to me.
