I can't statically. I know what I see and they are talented backs that would have more opportunity in an offense with a halfway decent QB and line that can keep the defense equally protecting against the pass as the run. We invested in Ash and he started a really great season last year and then his body broke down. The other guys that were high profile enough to think they can start transferred and we were left with a guy in Mccoy who knew he couldn't start. IDK. I think it'll be a route. Not sure what is any better about this team compared to the BYU game and Baylor is better and their offense is more prolific. Seems like it's going to be one of the most embarrassing home losses given Baylor's stature in the history of college football.
They need to win it to help with recruiting but I don't think it should mean that they need to replace strong next year. He certainly has not been a welcome surprise but every coach deserves some time to make a team their own. Let's see how he recruits.
Hmmm. IDK. I could see him retiring he he would have won that 2nd rose bowl. Would have been a really great last two recruiting cycles. Two titles. Sigh...we rented out a theatre at the Alamo Drafthouse to watch that game.
UT has lots of money, need a big name coach to recruit. Strong is not a big name coach, and he need win quickly before everyone starts to speculate he is not the guy for UT.
No they don't. If that were true, no upcoming coach could ever be successful anywhere. 5 games into the season is not that time. No one - except you - seems to be speculating about his job status at this point. If nothing else, he's going to get an extra long time because he's the new AD's first big hire. So he and the AD's reputation are tied together.
Like Major said, every coach was not a big name coach at some point. Saban came from Michigan St., Les Miles came from OK St etc. It would have been nice to get a more prominent coach but it is what it is.
If you don't beat a top 10 team in the country you should fire your coach? That's so Longhorn And I say that with all due respect because I've rooted for UT in EVERY game they've ever played in that was against any team other than Baylor.
I think Daje Johnson really could help us in forming a dynamic receiving corps and improving special teams. Marcus Johnson by himself does not cut it. I would like to see more of the Foreman brothers, who seem to have more explosiveness at RB and WR than what we have right now.
Don't know what Strong was expecting on that one. Even if it weren't blocked, Rose has a poor leg and poor accuracy.
******* it we suck. At least Strong is playing like he has nothing to lose though... Gotta play the wildcard against such a lopsided matchup.
So they get their FG blocked. Then later they get to the 1 yd line and fumble it instead of getting a TD. Pathetic. If Baylor wasn't playing so bad, this game would be over. Credit to the Horns D somewhat.
They won't play him even if swoops goes down. He is a hard redshirt. Can't believe swoops screwed himself so badly after a good drive. This "dual threat" QB has been a real disappointment running the ball.
