No, he has had more injuries than most players over the last 2 years. Most players do not miss as much time as he has, and most players do not have the number of injuries he has had. He IS rightfully labeled as injury prone right now. If he plays 15-16 games next year and stays off the IR the rest of the year, then we can feel more comfortable about it. You can drop this "mortal" BS.
He had a groin injury that he didn't take care of till after the season and then he got a knee injury stepping in a hole in the Texans surface....that's not really enough to call someone "injury prone". It's nothing but a knee jerk reaction, time will show one way or the other but there isn't a sufficient data set to make any extreme stance on the issue.
Posts like this reveals how blindingly obvious your bias is. You claim that Clowney is perfectly normal (or "mortal") for experiencing a high number of injuries... But then turn around and say Bridgewater is "made of glass," even though he's only missed a grand total of ONE game in his entire college/professional career due to injury. Even the most passionate Clowney fans (who happen to be the majority of the Texans fanbase) are worried about Clowney's health. It is undoubtedly concerning. You'd be lying if you claimed it didn't bother you at some level.
I love clowney and am terrified he will be a complete zero for his career like he has been this season.
It's certainly a setback, but people who immediately jump to conclusions saying he's "injury prone" are usually those who were upset about the draft and they're hoping he fails so they can say that they were right. Simple as that. As to Bridgewater, it's a completely different situation. One player had a fluke injury stepping in a hole, the other simply isn't built to take the punishment of an NFL player. It's like comparing an old man who broke his hip getting out of bed to someone who got shot. Both got injured, but they aren't at all comparable.
I was on your side of this argument when Yao broke his leg or had a toe problem but then the other injuries piled up and I flipped to the other side when people were telling me Schaub just had a fluke injury from Hainsworth because I knew the dude couldn't hack it in the NFL. Some people are just prone to being injured no matter what the cause is. Those people are called injury prone.
I don't mind that you are one of those making the knee jerk reaction labeling a rookie as "injury prone" after a fluke injury due to shoddy turf. You could be right, only time will tell, I'm just not willing to jump to that conclusion just yet like some are.
He has had one true injury in the NFL and is still within the recovery period for that injury so I am not calling him injury prone yet. I am just pissed that the one thing I was looking forward to this year was 90 and 99 killing people. The team looks better than I expected but Clowney being hurt sucks. Hearing the news he will be out for the Colts was a blow to a bunch of fans.
THIS. I couldn't wait to see the Watt Clowney combo.......ugh. Really sucks not having him out there this week, and especially Thursday against the Colts. Especially considering the surprise start by the team. I hope the dude recovers quickly (and can stay healthy), and lives up to the hype.......please don't be an Oden.
Yeah it sucks, but probably shouldn't have been surprising that they weren't going to have him come back on a short week. If the game was a normal Sunday game I bet he plays.
The two aren't linked, I'm not claiming Bridgewater is "injury prone" I'm saying that he's too thin to play QB without getting hurt. In no way is that the same thing at all. He needed a year or so in the weight room to bulk up before being thrown to the wolves, I've said that all along.
Yao Ming was inury prone. Physically, his foot was simply not conditioned to take the pounding, making him more prone to specifically injure it. Clowney's injuries are not reoccuring or connected, nor are they a product of any physical limitation. Now, he may very well be improperly conditioned, or his training may be substandard - and that could cause him to, generally speaking, be more prone to injury... but there's nothing to suggest that, assuming he's properly preparing himself for the physicality of football, he is more likely to get injured than another similiar-level athlete.
All I know is that Clowney is still living off his production in 2012. Would be nice to see him contribute something at some point in 2014. Availability is the most important ability in the NFL, and right now the Texans are getting a net negative from the #1 pick.
Yeah, you're losing with this one. This coming from someone that agrees with you on the Clowney injury prone thing.
Can you walk us though your detailed investigation of the injury? Didn't it come down to Bill Belichick said so? Absolutely no proof one way or another. He didn't fall forward and there wasn't any instant replay of him slipping into a hole. The dude's body is a freak and it is entirely possible his ligament just gave out under the pressure. I've had 4 meniscus tears and they weren't from terrible injuries. Stop passing off your opinions as facts. Once again passing off your opinions as facts with 0 investigation. I voted for Clowney is the very 1st poll we did on the draft and I was in the minority. After seeing him suffer 3 injuries since the draft, I have a very high concern that his body be too big and strong for the NFL and he will be one of those injury prone players.
Please post the Clowney quote. ALSO, I'm guessing you always believe everything anyone in the world says? You think that if he thought his body couldn't handle the NFL that he would say it and say he might be injury prone? It also came down to Bill Belichick IIRC.
