Pretty dumb opinion. We should embrace the double standard and not let the teachers goto jail for it. If it's a matter of principle then they should be banned from teaching.
Legally yes, they are minors, If one wishes to say that anyone under 18 is not competent enough to make decisions on their own, but at the strike of midnight on their 18th birthday they magically become competent/responsible, then sure, feel free to lump them in. Unfortunately in my world, most things tend to be gray. If this is not conditional based on gender, then you are merely stating that the only difference between a male and female is a penis, vag and a pair of boobs. Men tend to be sexually aggressive as a means to a conquest. So no, if a 16 year old is on a conquest of a 30 year old woman, he certainly isnt a victim. However, if a 30 year old man is manipulating his way to a 16 year old female, then sure, I would see her as a victim. And yes, there are plenty of under age girls who know exactly what they are doing. This is why we have black/white rules. The teachers of course knew better and should be punished accordingly. Them being labeled as a sexual predator is ridiculous however.
They face up to 17 years in prison. What a bunch of morons. Don't blame the kid though, 16 yr olds will do what 16 yr olds do.
I think they should not go to prison. Statutory rape is stupid. Should they get banned from teaching? Yes. Should they be shamed? Certainly. But seriously, the kid was bragging about it. Seems like he was definitely not a victim here.

People can agree to disagree to the double standard, but at least understand that those who don't think that the women should be in prison are treating this different from a case of a man doing it to a girl. And what's with the violence rhetoric from your earlier post with the hypothetical that your wife is one of them? That's just weird.
If they are old enough to be tried as an adult in a court of law, the same case can be made that they are old enough to have consensual sex. The litmus test shouldn't be age. It should be whether or not they knew what they were doing and were completely consensual about it. I could understand throwing them in jail if the kid was 12. but 16? Seriously?

I dont think there is a double standard. If a girl knows what she is doing, then that should be the base. It should be the alleged "victim" that should determine whether someone should be prosecuted, not the state or mommy and daddy who think their kids are wholesome angels. However, if it was up to the victim, then there would be an uptick of men manipulating younger females.
