No surprise. Parsons has barely worked on his game this offseason. Too busy partying it up, trying to hit on a Kardashian, and spending his new found wealth.

The Rockets weren't, and still aren't, one piece from getting over the top, but yes, Ariza is the better fit for the current team than Parsons, assuming Ariza isn't just some contract-year player like he's made out to be.

His mom looks kinda diabetic with clubby fingers. And his bro and dad are on the hoggish side. Looks like Chandler will be like Magic J. when he retires and gain well 100 lbs.

Parsons "bulking up" is likely a bad idea even if it's not a matter of "not quite in shape yet" and the weight is all muscle. This is often true about NBA players-- the game is more about mobility and endurance than just shoving guys. Even big guys like Tim Duncan and Kevin Love benefited from losing weight.

Parsons, in particular, just isn't built to carry any extra mass. He's got skinny legs and no ass and his game involves a lot of off-ball cuts and movement. Better for him to just live with getting out-muscled sometimes than to slow himself down with extra weight.

This exactly. Parsons is not going to have the same open shots or open lanes to the basket with Dallas.

No offense to Dirk or Ellis, but neither garner as much attention as Howard or Harden on a nightly basis. Add to that that neither are the passer Harden is and it will be interesting how effective Parsons will be.

Carlisle can draw up plays with the best of them though.

I'm predicting 16/5/4 on 43/36/72 shooting for Chandler "I'm a third star so pay me 15 million" Parsons. I think he is going to be forcing it too much to prove his worth this his usual effiecent shooting turns pedestrian.

Sure he will, Carlisle's coaching will make up for any drop-off in terms of the quality of players he's playing with, and Dirk has to be defended out to the 3 point line making him an excellent P&R partner for Parsons. Keep in mind that Carlisle had Ellis doing as many (maybe more, I don't remember) P&Rs with Dirk as the point guards. Parsons will likely get a lot of those as well. He'll also have more corner 3s available because the Mavs don't need him to clear the corner so they can post up Dwight. He'll have plenty of opportunities to stuff the stat sheet, probably be around where he was last season. (Which still ain't worth near $15 million).

I hope you realize that legs (and ass) are built from muscles that can grow as well? Gaining mass isnt exclusive to the upper body (even though I see a lot of guys at the gym that think that way). Now wether it's an advantage for his game to gain that weight is another story, but we just can't know that yet.
That's right about Ellis but I think the amount of times that teams try to double team Dirk is not much lower than for Howard. And those 0.4 assists per game advantage Harden has compared to Ellis isnt really much, his assist average the season before was even lower than Ellis. And with a center that can finally catch a basketball his assist numbers will probably rise this year.

Wether you still like Parsons or not, at least stay realistic...

I dont think that Parsons is worth 15m this year either, but I think you would agree that a 10m+ contract is justified? So add an underpaid Dirk and Monta (both ~7m) to the equation and you got a great deal. Dont forget that Dallas even admitted to overpay him a bit to reduce the chances of Morey matching the contract, in return Dirk took an even bigger paycut. If you look at it that way, it actually makes sense.

Parson's family is not the petite skinny long model type here by any means. Parsons will be well over 300lbs in retirement. Look at his mom, pops and bro.. Parsons is lucky he's at the weight class he's in for his height. I think Parson's mom currently weighs more than he does. I'm willing to bet on it actually.

Parsons will probably be overweight after he retires, but there is no way his mom weights more than him right now. She looks 5'8" and around 180LB

Barring injuries, the Mavs and Parsons, under Carlilse's coaching and Tyson Chandler's return at the center spot, will be serious championship contenders this year.

    Deal with it.
