    Exactly, man:)

I don't WANT to be cynical. It's that my teams have conditioned me to be so.

I still forever loyal though and won't cheer for rivals like some other respected posters will.

I feel your cynicism. I've been in this boat 50+ years. :)

Amongst other things, I'm still not over '98 with Randy Johnson. Best Astro team ever IMO. Hitting, power, defense, and pitching. First round loser. What a bleeping waste!! I don't care if Brown was hot... WE should've been hotter!!!

I'm not over the blown lead in the 9th inning of game 6 in 1986. Actually, I am not over the Houston Oilers loss to the Dallas Texans in 1962.

LOL, I hear. '86 was before my time, but I know the city has failed too many times.

Altuve (Houston) won today. Hopefully the trend continues. Cheers to the future!

OH god STFU with our tragic history.

Every town has heartbreaking losses, it happens.

This is great news. This could be his last season with the Astros for him a team like NYY or Boston might try to get him for next season

Hahahaha, doubtful. Short of being trading for a Trout or Stanton, Tuve's not going anywhere.

He's 24 y/o all-star middle infielder under contract until 2019 at waayyyyyy below market salaries; $23m over the next FIVE seasons. He's easily top 10 in surplus value in the game right now. It'd take a king's ransom to get him now.

He is under Astros control through 2019 - team option in 2018 and 2019. His 2018 and 2019 option years are at $6 million and $6.5 million. If he continues to play well, he'll be quite a bargain.

He might be the best contract in baseball.

Had he not signed a contract, he would have only been paid 500K this year, so technically he actually was overpaid based on what he would have made.

Likewise next season would have been his first arbitration year, and he likely wouldn't have made much more than his contract pays him.

But if he can maintain this level of production, or anywhere close to it, he will be grossly underpaid from 16-19. The Astros bought low on Altuve when he was slumping, and this could pay off in a massive way.
