Rubio should get paid between 8-10 but some r****ded team will offer him between 10-13

I am all for getting Rubio if we can do so without losing any major pieces but let's not build him up thereby setting him up to fail due to unrealistic expectations. PGs who are better defenders:

    Chris Paul
    Rajon Rondo
    Avery Bradley
    Eric Bledsoe
    Patrick Beverley
    Mike Conley

In addition to those 6 I would also add Russell Westbrook who can be a lock down defender when motivated.

All quality defenders for sure. But Rubio is nota wit behind any of them and may be better than all of them defensively.

Uhh do you just not take efficiency into account? They had the exact same PPG except Bledsoe shot 47% to Kembas 39%. That is a gigantic difference, their assist differences are marginal and Bledsoe is a far far superior defender.

Did you really just try to use YouTube highlights to prove a point?

So your stance is subjective, an opinion, because you will find ZERO support if objective. Almost all those guys are universally lauded and/or recognized by NBA as being the best defensively the last 3 years, all except for Bledsoe and Westbrook were on All Defensive teams.

    November 23 2013 wolves @ rockets

    Lin scores 19
    Bev scores a ridiculous 17

Rubio goes 3/9 for 7 points.

Did you watch this game? I just watch the condensed game again and Rubio defence was terriable for someone you claim as an elite defender.

Also haven't watched the condensed yet but February 10

Bev again scores well above his average dropping 14 and has a +20 +-
    Rubio goes 2-10 for 7 points again and has a -15 +-

I was at that game. Rox were down like nineteen in the third, no one could stop JJ Barea. Harden and Lin brought us back. It was a good game but Rubio was damn near invisible

Don't remember that particular game. But remember it because Harden was out. I've seen around 80% of Rubio's games since he came into the league. I think I know what's going on in Minnesota pretty well. Remember Jason Kidd on the Mavs early in his career? Even he couldn't save the franchise. And he had a young, quick, athletic Jamal Mashburn with him lighting it up. Try November 23, 1996 game between Mavs and Nets. Robert Pack went off against Kidd to the tune of 17 points and 22 assists and for good measure Kendall Gill threw in another 26 as the Nets smoked the Mavs. This was shortly before Kidd was traded to the Nets. (Because, you know, it was Kidd's fault the Mavs sucked so bad. Kidd couldn't shoot for ....)

Rubio is in the same scenario in Minny. And now they've moved Love and are once again entering a rebuilding stage. Just as Kevin Garnett before him, Love couldn't help Minny win. And Love has a significant flaw in his game. His defense. Love's defense is as bad as Rubio's shooting. Rubio can't help them win significantly either. This is the franchise that had David Kahn running the organization for most of Rubio's career. Kahn is the dude that ran off Love. It came down to his piss poor decision making. Now Love is gone and Rubio is headed for the door.

Minny may actually be headed in the right direction right now. Who knows? I'm not convinced Flip is the guy but he could be. He's a big improvement over Kahn. But still lots of questions. Flip couldn't convince Love to stay. And now it's rookie city up there once again. It's the wrong time and place for Rubio who is headed into his prime years. He needs to go and Minny needs to go to the lottery and pick up as much young talent as possible. But instead they are still stuck in in-between land with Flip trading for Thad Young and attempting to compete for a playoff spot that isn't there for them and foolishly attempting to sign Rubio for cheap instead of just putting him up for bid.

Dump Minnesota's losing on Rubio if you want. Complain that he is the worst shooter in the NBA and link that to Minnesota's poor record like he's the culprit. But I know better. The franchise has been a joke for many years. And odds are it's not going to change as long as the ultimate decision maker (Glen Taylor) is in place. He's the guy ultimately responsible for the front office debacles that have led to several prime players walking out the door to go on and win big time elsewhere. Love is probably headed for a couple rings (or more) and the hall of fame while going to a franchise where he becomes the 3rd All-Star. The Wolves can't keep 2 All-Star talents together much less obtain a 3rd one. And yes, Rubio is an All-Star talent.

In these type of situations, players warts show terribly and their talents are hidden and wasted. Garnett escaped and went on to win a ring and prove to the world he was a winner. No matter what he did for Minny while he was there he was ALWAYS labeled a loser because he couldn't get them over the top. Minny was barely a .500 franchise throughout the Garnett years. And there's no doubt Garnett is a HOF'er. But while he was there they complained incessantly about him being too much of a face-up player and not having a post-up game and not able to carry the franchise because he wasn't a scorer, etc. Just complaint after complaint about Garnett not carrying them across the finish line every year.

Rubio will go win elsewhere. And win a lot.

Just a quick FYI Jason kid was traded to Suns not the Nets in 96.

The maubury trade is what brought him to the nets in 2001.
