Way to completely change the subject. Please explain how A&M's work in the SEC is more impressive than a berth in the championship game and a two season span where UT lost a total of 2 games. I applaud A&M but it's not like they've even won their conference let alone division.
Your second post does nothing to address the challenged assertion that A&M has been more impressive since 2005 than UT despite the fact A&M has not even won a division and UT has gone to the National Championship in the midst of a 2 year span where they went 25-2. I think what A&M has done in the SEC is really great and surprised a lot of people. But come on...
Who challenged my assertion? Other poster just brought up finishing 4th in 2012. And I stated I haven't been impressed with them since Vince Young. Which I haven't for the past, what is it a decade now? Nice run in 2009 with a great college* QB. Should be in the hunt every year with the program running smooth with pro prospects busting at the seams and not a freaking debacle. Right?
It has not been a decade. 2004 (Rose Bowl), 2005 (Championship), 2006 (Alamo), 2007 (Holiday), 2008 (Fiesta), 2009 (2nd place) were all successful seasons. It has been 5 years of poor play. How many years under Mack Brown were unsuccessful? 4. 2010-2013. How many bad years under Strong? 1 if you count this year.
You probably have to let this go. He doesn't seem interested in any discussions based in logic or fact.
Dude. Can you just say, "I am not impressed by a BCS Bowl win and an appearance in the National Championship game."?
UCLA just scored 62 on a ranked team. Hmmm. Makes me think that the UCLA loss by Texas was indicative of some hope for the season...I hope...hopefully...
This is an interesting season for UT. On October 12th, they very well could be 2-4, but their 4 losses could be to teams that are a combined 24-0 or 23-1. I think UT has 3 more very likely wins: ISU, Tech, Kansas. 2 very likely losses in Baylor and OU. That puts them at 4-4. The real season will be determined by the other 4 games: OSU, KSU, WVU, and TCU, and all of those games are in the back half of the season.
Hey, I'm not making any bold predictions. I would be completely ecstatic with 7 wins, happy with 6, and, if you put a gun to my head, I'd predict 5.
You are exactly right. The defensive effort against UCLA and the accuracy of Swoops has me hopeful about those 4 either or games. I didn't want Strong when they hired him (I wanted Franklin) but I am really starting to get on board with what he is doing here. If we can get to 6 or 7 wins during the regular season, I think that gives the team the positive momentum they need going into next season.
The Kansas game will tell us a lot. Swoops has two games under his belt and an off week to hone what he's learned. Hopefully we will see him shine in what should be a very winnable game. If he isn't impressive against Kansas then we're in trouble for sure. Strong needs 1 signature win this year. Losing to BYU, Baylor, OU and UCLA will make for a very long offseason for him. A win there and some good pickups in recruiting and he will hold the fan base for another year. If he loses to Kansas.... god help him.
I don't think i have ever seen a UT game so obscurely located in my life. Fox Sports 2... really? Tough times LOL
