Yes..or very close to it. My guess is ROOT wouldn't be up and running until the first regular season game at the earliest.

Why? All it does is prove that the math wasn't remotely viable. Comcast has 40% of the market, and paying the higher rates, CSN-H generated $39 million in revenues. So even if the network got the higher rates from ALL the other providers in the market and got 100% coverage, that puts their revenues at somewhere around $100 million over that period - with operating expenses of $116 million. The numbers would grow over time and all, but that shows how much of a problem it would have been to accept lower rates, especially since Comcast's rates would go down too.

I thought it was most interesting that he called Postolos by name in the article. Like, "Hey, don't forget, this was all Postolos' idea!"

That McLane article is more than a little self-serving. Supporting ROOT sports? Okay, great. Talking about pending fraud litigation? Eh, just let it play out in the courts, McLane.

Yeah, of course it is. Everyone in this whole mess is self-serving. Seems to be pretty common among human beings, generally. :)

That's what I was thinking too.

Did Postolos work for McLane? I was thinking he was Crane's guy.

    http://mlb.mlb.com/hou/team/exec_bios/postolos_george.html

Texas native George Postolos became President and CEO after the purchase of the Houston Astros by Jim Crane and his partners in November of 2011. George had worked with Jim for five years in pursuing an MLB franchise before ultimately completing the purchase of the Astros.

McLane is pretty much a despicable human being. Or, at the very least, far and away the worst ting to ever happen to pro sports in this town, and I am still counting shag-carpet-head in that list as well.

I have maintained for years that McLane was responsible for destroying the Astros, and so many people in the forums would boo and hiss at me, always bringing up the fact of the Astros' relative successes during McLane's tenure.

My response has always been that the Astros' successes were in SPITE of McLane, not because of him. And had we had just about any other, at least semi-competent owner during those same times, the successes of the Astros would have been much greater.

McLane basically squandered B&B's careers with bad decision after bad decision.

And now the guy comes out on full blast against other people??

Hopefully nobody is standing too close to Unca Drayton when the lightning bolt strikes him...

This is kind of extreme, but I agree that McLane's no saint.

Claiming he left a good farm system to the new regime because of Jose Altuve, Jason Castro, and George Springer is pretty damn hilarious. The farm system was universally regarded as the worst in the game. And before Mallee and Altuve started clicking, Jose was a pretty average second baseman.

I just want this whole thing to be over with. I'll chuckle if/when Crane's lawsuit against McLane doesn't get dismissed, though.
