I thought I was clear earlier but again it's a 3 guard rotation and 30 mil isn't really that much for their 3 guard rotation when you factor in how cheap their front court is. Yes I get that next summer will be interesting with Gogi going into free agency but realize that Gogi IS THE FACE OF THEIR FRANCHISE. He's their best bet at getting an all star this year... It might not sound like a big deal but it's a huge deal to the business office. He's not going anywhere this year. So "How Soon is Now".... "You shut your mouth....how can you say, I go about things the wrong way...." Sorry that's in my head now .... Reg how soon: maybe Phoenix shops around at the deadline if their team is struggling ... Maybe this NEXT summer they move Bledsoe for a big in anticipation of a max deal coming Gogis way. However it's obvious to me that with the success they had with Gogi/Bledsoe in their starting back court last year, this is who they are rolling with this year.... If Gogi walks in UFA they still have Bledsoe to roll with. Which is why I wouldn't even think they really even would want to trade Bledoe at the deadline even knowing that they could move him in the Summer and losing Gogi is a risk. ... And they are going to play super fast and furious.

How this contract is structured could be an indicator of a future trade of Bledsoe. There are several ways: 1. A flat $14 million over 5 years with no increases or decreases. This would be a difficult contract to trade except later in the years. 2. A contract that runs up hill with 7.5% increases with a starting salary of $12.17 million in year 1, $13.08 million in year 2, $14 million in year 3, $14.91 million in year 4, and $15.82 in the last season. This is the typical contract. Hard to deal because of years and increasing salary. Banking on new CBA to drive the cap percentage down or at least keep it at even. And no regard for the free agent market in the next year or two. 3. A contract that goes down for one season and then goes up for 3 years. Those salaries would look like this: Year 1 - $13.59 million, Year 2 - $12.57 million, Year 3 - $13.59 million, Year 4 - $14.61 million, Year 5 - $15.63 million. A contract styled like this gives the greatest flexibility to a team wanting to be players in 2015 free agency. If the contract is styled like this it could portend a trade. 4. A contract that goes down for 2 seasons following the first year at the max and then goes back the last 2. Those salaries would look like this: Year 1 - $14.746 million, Year 2 - $13.87 million, Year 3 - $12.75 million, Year 4 - $13.87 million, Year 5 - $14.746 million. This contract would allow the salary to be at it's lowest point in the summer of 2016 when the CBA is expected to jump and Kevin Durant is on the market. It would allow the greatest salary cap flexibility for a team looking to sign Durant or some other big name free agent in 2016. 5. A contract that starts at the max of $14.746 million and goes up by 7.5% every year with only a partial guarantee in the 5th season of $ . Those salaries would look like this: Year 1 - $14.746 million, Year 2 - $15.85 million, Year 3 - $16.95 million, Year 4 - $18.06 million, Year 5 - $19.17 million with only $4.394 million guaranteed the 5th season. This is the most unlikely of the possibilities here as usually this is announced when the news hits that the contract is agreed to. It would usually be announced as a 4-year deal with a partial guaranteed on a 5th season. So, I don't think this is likely. I think it is likely that there is a 1 year dip or a 2 year dip in salaries. In other words either scenario #3 or scenario #4 above. Little things like this are important as they could make the difference between signing Durant (or some other max primo free agent) and Durant (or some other max primo free agent) re-signing in OKC or moving to DC or LA or some other big market.
They lost their stretch 4 (who was also their only competent interior defender), I don't think you comprehend how much that impacts a team playing the style they do. I'm not even sure you watch Rockets games, because adding to a position you already have a plethora of talent at, while losing your best and most important front court player at a set of positions you have a dearth of talent at doesn't make you better.
Terry can't be traded for a larger salaried player for another 7 weeks or so. Doing so is considered by the league office to be a step up salary exchange and teams were specifically reminded that it would be viewed as such by the league this summer.

Technically the prevented step up would be above Gee+Hopson's amount (I suspect Morey traded Hopson because of this), the whole idea being to stop compounding step ups, he could have traded Powell for the 4->5.9 step up, but instead traded Hopson for the 5.6->5.9. The league would probably allow the 5.6 x 150%+100k.

Lol agreed, leave it guys, Bledsoe is a Phoenix Sun. I swear, getting this inside info has been way more of headache then a pleasure to me because of how long and uncertain things are.
It's a good deal for Bledsoe, and for the Suns too. Goran will definitely demand more than him. If the Suns feel that that they can upgrade their frontcourt and retain Dragic, they will go that route IMO.
