The one-year deal I'm talking about would be a last ditch resort if nothing gets done by October 1st. Bledsoe signs the QO sheet, Paul calls up PHX and tells them the offer sheet is coming over signed, they can either sign-and-trade Bledsoe to unknown team for the max or they can offer a 2 year deal with a player option on the second season for the max, or Bledsoe/Paul will send over the signed QO. If it comes down to that then PHX and Bledsoe/Paul will likely agree on a 1-year deal in the $10-$14 million range or a 2-year deal with a player option on year 2 in the same price range. Remember the $$$ has to be spent somewhere on somebody. PHX can't simply pocket the dollars. They gotta pay out 90% of the cap by the end of the year. Money is gone anyways. Might as well give a chunk of it to Bledsoe on a 1-year deal and thereby make it easier to trade him to more teams because they can re-sign him without having to carve out cap space to do so. I'm with you. I think they agree on a deal somewhere between the 2 numbers. Or they sign-and-trade him elsewhere. However, if they can't get either deal done....the one year deal at $10-$14 million makes the most sense for both parties. They'll offer it to Bledsoe at the last minute if he is going to actually send over a signed qualifying offer.
I get what you're offering, and something like that isn't impossible to believe...uncharted territories we have here. I'm more and more of a mindset, that the Suns (while still hoping Bledsoe camp will acquiesce to the Suns offer or a slight bump/adj) ...that the Suns are ok with a QO'd EB...and I'm unboard. No animosity, no holding back on his role, play him and treat him as if he's Suns family and part of the future. "Dude! We offered you 48 million guaranteed, but we respect your decision to play it out at 3.7 and get to a true UFA next summer. Now! Let's go have one helluva season". I'd even stick a big 2 million dollar bonus check in his Christmas stocking to further get the Suns to the salary floor...something that the Zoran signing will already help with. If EB is playing anything like last year, he'll be more than worth another 2 big ones. Absolutely no guarantees that this beaucoup positive Suns goodwill and a hefty check would get EB to re-up next summer, but with his Bird rights (# of years+%increases) in hand, and another good season in Phoenix ...maybe? Keep in mind, this rumored animosity that Eric has for the Suns is a media/speculative fan assumption. His agent Paul has said absolutely zero. Eric's only interview was hyped as negative with his "...they've used the rules of restricted free agency against me" OH MY! But he actually ended that statement with- "...but, I understand that". The last portion was dropped in many reports, probably because it would mitigate juicy controversy. Yes. With the QO there's a strong possibility that Bledsoe walks, but for a player, that plays as close to the edge as EB does on a shaky knee? Running him through the gauntlet one more time on a low cost contract? And then being the team that can offer him more and more years than anybody next summer is not exactly a terrible situation. Oh! And we (the Suns) traded Jared Dudley for the honor of wrestling with this situation, and have Dragic, IT and a young Ennis providing the PG firewall just in case EB can't be convinced.

would need transcript or audio of Wyc's statement before I believe it. No way he would jeopardize Rondos trade-ability. Personally I would want Faried.
I don't understand why they are stashing so many PG's. A lot of No. 1 picks I can understand but why PG's?
Morey collects (or used to anyways) 6'9 PFs. Phoenix Suns collect PGs. Why let an asset go away for nothing?
lol Yes he did but they were a lot of young talented studs that he could hope one of them can be good. Phoenix is grabbing a lot of known quality PG's.
Shouldn't the suns be cashing in assets if they were to make a trade for bled/dragic instead of trading them for assets? Don't see why we would be taken seriously by the FO. Fans would get aggregated if they never cashed in.
Bledsoe, Dragic and Thomas. 2 of them start, one off the bench. Are they really hoarding point guards? I don't think so.
