This. They got their asses kicked yesterday. It's going to happen. San Diego kicked Seattle's ass last week. They weren't going to go 16-0. I think this team is somewhere in the middle of what they were in Weeks 1 & 2 and what they were yesterday. That might just be enough to win this division.

    Certainly.

I'm still very concerned about the d-line play (and the ability to pressure the QB), as I don't see much "progress" from Mercilus and Reed, and with Cushing still on the mend, opposing teams pretty much can focus on Watt and take their chances with everybody else.

Swearinger was basically used as an extra LB to cover up the other LB's deficiencies, and they still gashed them.

Clowney will not only provide major help... he's basically a necessity at this point to get the line from being totally mediocre.

The offense will be better with Foster but without consistent line play, they may need to shorten up some of the passing routes (as they did in the second half, where they started doing solely quick slants/outs).

Tired of this topic being brought up, what do you guys expect him to do? y'all know his QB throws more ducks than spirals right?

We should be running the ball on first, second and third down unless it's not an option.

Six to Eight win team, depending on the health of our older vets, it could get worse than that.

They are who we thought they were!

Yep, Bob needs to run the long TD play once per drive.

I can't figure out why the heck he doesn't.

Can you imagine how strong the knee jerk reaction would be if the Texans weren't leading their division?

too conservative? Fitz threw 3 INTs in this convervative offense. could you imagine how many INT he puts up if they just let him be the gun slinger that he is?

I think it's pretty simple. If we're winning, we're going to be running the ball more. If we're losing, we're going to be throwing it. Thus, in the Oakland game you were likely to see more conservative play calling when we were up big and you were more likely to see more aggressive play calling against the Giants when we were down by 3 scores.

This is pretty standard stuff. Don't come back and b**** until we're trying to grind it out in a game where we're down big. But that hasn't happened yet.

Did yall not see the disaster that happened before the half?

We have the ball on the 9 yard and Fitz decideds to throw it into a double covered AJ resulting in a TD. You run the ball and take time off the clock in that situation an punt , have the D try to stop em. We could have gone into the locker room 7-0 but idiot play calling. They almost had another interception after that.. Not sure how you call that conservative more like idiotic.

Loving the over reactions. You guys see how the almighty Patriots struggled to beat Oakland at home? The team the Texans obliterated at their place?

It's going to take awhile for this team to really be clicking (if at all). Even when things are going good, you're never as good as you think you are.

Yeah, the timing of this thread just seems odd.

Also, everyone seems to be glossing over just how desperate the Giants were to get that win. If the Giants lose that game at home, their season is over. They stepped their game up and it showed. When I read "3 games in, is BOB too conservative?" somehow what I see is "I'm in Katy, should I evacuate?"

Anyone who believes BOB is conservative has no clue how playcalling works. Like in the gamethread I see people like mario_v who are just balls-deep happy people, and think running a play on a long situation is Kubiaky.

There's a difference between playing smart and playing like Kubiak.

Look at the personnel on this roster.

We have a quaterback that tends to make bad decisions when the pressure is on him.

We have great defensive players (when Clowney is back), we have a great offensive line, and we have no players with that elite speed.

Teams that don't have a great quarterback usually plays conservatively in certain situations whereas if they had a great one, they would open the playbook up.

Look at other teams that have had a similar model like the 49ers and the Seahawks (when Harvin was injured). Those teams played conservatively in the situations many of the fans complain about even with having a better quarterbacks.

Now if we look at BOB, his play-calling has been smartly called for the most part. It isn't predictable and it isn't the scripted bs that Kubiak was running over here.

Just because there aren't a lot of them doesn't mean that they aren't over reacting.

With Fitz as your QB you can never be too conservative.

Is there going to be a new team evaluation thread after every game?

"16 games in, what have we learned this season?"
