I really hate when we run he ball on 3rd and 15 and trailing by 2 scores.

He called a fake punt on our first drive. And we also went for it on 4th in our own territory for our first drive in the second half.

I don't think he's conservative. I think he lulls you into thinking he'll do the predictable play but will mix it up with a shot every now to keep defenses honest.

I think he's playing the cards that he's been dealt. He's clearly not confident in Fitzpatrick, and the game-plan in every game so far reflects that.

Meh .... Hard to say. I would be fine with the conservative play calling if we had an elite defense or a ball control offense that always wins the turnover battle.

I wasn't happy down 17-0 and kicking the field goal on 4th and 1 inside the 10.

Truthfully I didn't get the love affair with BOB prior to the Texans interest. Currently he has a mediocre to bad team to coach and the issue isn't his play calling it is what he has to work with. He has one of the worst starting QB's in the NFL, zero benefit from the #1 pick in the draft because the Ferrari is always in the shop, a OL still growing, mediocre pressure up front and a secondary that is inconsistent. He has some nice pieces too (Watt, Johnson, etc.) but not enough.

The alternative is having Fitz throw a pick. The Texans are built to win with defense and the run game, when they aren't working, we aren't winning. You only make matters worse if you were asking Fitz to convert 3rd and 15's in the air.

    Would you be confident?

The question is would BOB have interest in RGIII? I actually doubt it, but think he will be available after the inevitable Civil Union between Gruden and Cousins.

I'm not saying he should be. The game plan perfectly fits our personnel, so I'm not taking a shot at his philosophy or anything. We might be a bit too dependent on Foster, though, which could be a problem down the line if he can't stay healthy.

The problem is with Fitzpatrick (like Schaub) everything has to be perfect for him to succeed.

Simply put he's not a good QB.

After today I would not mind a switch to coke head Mallett.

You are totally correct in your assessment. I would rep you if I could. Texans fans are too smart to fall for the fake punts, going for it on 4th down, JJ lining up at TE, etc... Those gimmicks don't hide the truth, BOB is too conservative, he coaches scared.

BOB isn't coaching scared, he's simply coaching to win.

Unfortunately with Fitzpatrick under center, anything over 25 pass attempts per game will not equate to a 'W'.

You know that didn't really happen in this game, right?

Well, on the first drive, the very first 3rd down, we threw a screen to Andre and he came up a yard short. That was the closest to what you're talking about, but it wasn't a run and the game was tied at 0.

Later on that drive, we threw it on 3rd and 11 and Fitz was intercepted.

End of the 2nd quarter, down by 7, ball on our own 9, 3rd down and 19, we try to pick up the first down and Fitz throws an INT which led to New York's 2nd TD 3 plays later.

We were literally only in one 3rd and long situation after that and that was the play where Fitz almost scrambled for a first down (it was a pass play) and they reviewed it and called it short (right before Lechler was blocked).

Fake punt, J.J. catching a TD pass _ that doesn't sound very conservative to me.

Yesterday Manning audibled to a draw play on 3rd & 9 against Seattle... It happens. When the opposing team knows you HAVE to throw it's sometimes best to run... Especially when Fitzpatrick is the quarterback.

    he wasn't last night!
3rd and long, from own end zone and throws. usually, he runs it there.
only 1 int was fitz's. first one, pass protection failed. arm hit, that's going to happen.
2nd int, B.o.B led him to an ambush. it happens. but had he been conservative, it's only 7-0 going into halftime.

A couple of penalties that negative huge plays offensively and defensively..it happens.

i'm excited to see how we will respond to this next week. one thing we all take for granted is foster's pass blocking. you saw blue take a seat for missing many blocks and had ronnie freaking brown lining up.

I don't think people appreciate how many things Foster does well. He gets a lot of hate, mainly becasue he often seems like a grade A d-bag, but between the lines he is extremely valuable.

As for BOB being conservative, some people obviously don't know the difference between aggressive and stupid.

You aren't going to win many games, nor are you going to be able to "open things up" as much as you want when both lines play like they did yesterday.

Domination in the trenches will almost certainly lead to losses like that.

Seems like one of the top 10 most aggressive playcallers in the league so far, IMO. Top 5 when you consider who the QB is and how he's neutering the pass game by default.

So far, I think he doing well with the talent that he has. Now he was part of picking some of that talent and that might be another issue. Clowney is hurt, but the others aren't setting the woods on fire. Essentially, he gets a pass on his first year.
