On "A" Sunday.... So maybe the first day that a deal can get done happens to be a Sunday? He doesn't say THIS Sunday.
this... and he has something that cannot be taught- court vision. It's like height. You just can't teach vision. I can't believe that people undervalue vision so much here but then I remind myself that most of you are too young and haven't really seen much of the beautiful game. The last kinda closest thing might be nash in his prime or jason kidd. I would say he has better vision than kidd and about same on shooting. Definitely better D than nash obviously not as good a shooter as nash. Even then I see his vision as being above nash and the last best better court vision was probably magic johnson. No I am not saying he is better than magic johnson I just put rubios court vision right below magic. If I were rating vision I would say magic rubio nash kidd in that order. People havent seen this in so long they cant fathom it now when they see it. Its like the system can't compute and the brain is not designed to handle it. for me the idea of rubio makes me orgasm. to each his own and go on and hate. in the right situation rubio would be completely nuts. simply put his vision is off the charts and with 2nd in steals you have to make the move.
Why take away that? If you take the same away from Harden out of the 3 foot cutoff line, he goes from 62% to 38%. The drop off from a layup to a close floater/short jumper is huge for just about every player. I will also be willing to have Millsap and Westbrook on this team. Both made your graph.
As seen last season rockets offense requires a point guard that can SHOOT the ball. Wtf is up with all the people want wanting the offensively challenged rubio? Harden is the unofficial pg. Harden doesn't move without the ball like a Kevin martin so are we gonna run the most stagnant offense in the league ?
You guys are underestimating Rubio. There are VERY few point guards or point forwards who can run a team better than Ricky. The only two that come to mind is CP3 and Lebron. If Morey decides to get Rubio it won't be for his defense or his lack of scoring ability, but his ability to handle the ball and RUN the team. I just don't know whether Daryl is targeting Rubio or not. And if he is then how much will he have to give Flip? and if you think Rubio sucks just look at the gold medal game back in 2008. He was 18 I think. and the great thing about him is that he's YOUNG and not tied of long term.... yet. Plus that Spaniard revenue may look good in Les pockets.
rubio has the best vision since magic johnson. If you are setting up people all day long with talent like howard and harden that is hardly going to be any kind of 'offensive challenge'. You are limiting yourself in terms of what you consider 'offense' and approach to goal scoring. I am strongly on the side that he is a once in a generation court vision. steals too.. yes please. rubio !git r done morey! Remember we have harden and freaking dwight howard! you make it sound like we are going to be screwed on offense LOL.
Because players attempt things like layups that further than 3 feet, like you know, at 3.2 feet? Hence Goldsberry, btw Rubio is the worst around at the precisely 3 feet line too. As for Westbrick, do you want him shooting 3's? lol, the issue with Rubio is he's horrible at what might be the worst spot on the whole court to be bad at, if you suck at elbow jumpers from one side and drop using them, you still have a lot of options, if you're awful at the rim and worse everywhere else, well there's an issue.....
i wish mine was as wilds as black dynamite's. not even my favorite scene in the movie though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bACCn9LOyY

I don't think anyone is questioning his court vision, and I think he would make life easier for Howard, Harden and Ariza (especially his feeds to Howard in the post), but what concerns me about Rubio is, come playoff time when every possession counts and the defense has been geared up to take away our other shooters, do you really want Rubio taking those tough, critical shots? I'm not quite yet sold on that idea.
I don't know if anyone remembers but we have had this issue before with a pg. We tried having a guy who could handle the ball but was inconsistent with his shot. We had Rafer Alston. The two guys that will control the tempo of our game will be Harden and Dwight. There are no if's or but's about it. They will have that ball 99% of the time. We do not need a Jason Kidd or Steve Nash on this team. We need a young Kenny Smith, Kyle Lowry, or young Billups type of player. We do not need to cringe every time we see Dwight make the pass out to Rubio for a wide open 3. This is a failed experiment that lead to a first round exit years ago. He's 23 and he is still struggling to hit shots under the basket or mid range and barely can hit the 3's? Come on folks... Why do people so easily forget. The Sacramento Kings had something similar in Jay williams and traded for a guy like Bibby to finally make some noise. Players like Rubio are great for highlight reels and entertaining show boating basketball. That is it. We got past the first round with Yao because everyone was a threat and no one could back off of anybody. Battier, Artest, Brooks, Wafer, Scola, Landry, Lowry Yao and Deke were all able to hurt you if they had the chance. Get Yao the ball was the game plan and it worked. If Yao was having problems, any one of those guys could hit their shots if the ball was passed out to them. Playoff time means a half court game, especially when the defense is taken up a notch or two. How is Rubio's style of play going to adjust? Shoot for Bledsoe, Rondo, Dragic even. Please say no to Rubio, Morey... Please.
There are a lot of Spaniards in the NBA, and Spain is just one small country with its own Euro team, the "Spanish Revenue" gained from Rubio isn't that big itself just ask Memphis who had both Gasols in their prime, players who are unarguably better than Rubio. As for Rubio, the ability to run a team is more important in the Euroleague than in the NBA because Euro ball depends a lot on team play, so teammates can cover for your weaknesses if you have an amazing strength like playmaking. In the NBA though there is a greater emphasis on 1-on-1 D and O, this is esp. true on our team because we don't have a Euro coach like Pop and Harden himself is already a good (to great) playmaker. Lin also had an amazing ability to create plays but he got marginalized and that talent was almost never utilized because you already had Harden who was deadlier making plays, the same would be true with Rubio. I guess the difference is Rubio also happens to be a really good defender, so maybe if he fixes his J we can have the best back court in the NBA, but as of right now for this team Bev is still the best choice for pg, you basically switch roles with Harden being the pg and Bev being the SG.
Here is a video of almost every play he was involved in during FIBA, good and bad. It is more indicative of the type of player he is. As much as I dog Rubio, he would benefit Howard a lot. He is a very good alley-oop passer. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/q07tma6co0E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Defense, court vision, great passing....all this, yes, but one more thing that Rubio's presence might also bring to the team: Sergio Llull. Could take a season or two but you can bet Sergio'd be more inclined to make the jump with his countryman here.
