Rice U flag football is one of the funniest athletic endeavors I've ever seen. It put early 90's drunken beer bike to shame.
You better hope you're not playing at UH, because I'm coming back to three-peat. Serious. I play in the competitive division; you have time to switch your team to recreational.
I was QB for a very good team about 10 years ago and we regularly beat some semi-pro teams. It helps to have a good arm and timing down with receivers, but scrambling ability is by far #1. To avoid a good rusher, tell your blocker which side to let him rush.. ex. if your play opens up when scrambling right, have your blocker let rusher go past his left so he has a longer path to you and has to change directions. Offense: every player should be a capable receiver. like the guys here said: quickness, agility and skill are everything. Defenses are impatient, so set them up. ex. complete some out patterns until they expect it and do an out-and-up. Defense: More ballhawks, the better. Against the good teams, you will be more successful being conservative than being huge gamblers. Your MVP will be your rusher.
Bump. My team won our first game, 14-12. I knocked down both two point conversion attempts by the other team. Thanks for the suggestions!
